Anyone know a decent firewall I can install onto this piece of crap?
I've got the built-in Vista firewall running and have been bombarded with pop-ups and viruses.
I tried PCTools firewall and that was crap aswell.

I should have stuck with XP just s I could have kept Sygate firewall.
Windows Vista is a load of old shit.

I use Firefox running on Vista Enterprise and I don't get that many pop-ups at all.
  • A firewall won't eliminate that scenario so well

    Firefox:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

    Adblock plus addon:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

    problem solved.

I never got any pop-ups with XP. I had XP for about 4 years.

It amazes me that the wealthiest company in the world can produce such a piece of crap.

I was already using Mozilla Firefox, but now for some reason I have a grey area about 1 inch tall on the bottom of the page when I open anything with Firefox. And I can't get rid of it.

Still, I'll try the add on. Cheers.

Edit: I can't run the add on. It says 'Unrecognised file type'.

    hmm.

I'd try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. There's a settings folder you can delete to purge it a step further if that doesn't resolve, but you lose all your favorites etc.. I'm using it on Firefox 3.0 and have no problems. Maybe just make the jump to Firefox 3.0 (if not already) first to see if that resolves.

I have Vista. First, install Eusing free registry cleaner. Then install Spyware Terminator and Avast antivirus. Uninstall Firefox, run the reg cleaner (make a back up first) and then the Spyware terminator. Re-install Firefox, and your problem should be solved. I run these three and I've never had an issue. You can find them all at download.com.

imacs come with a mighty mouse the mouse is still one piece but for the cavemen/pc gamers (they still exist?) you can click the east quadrant of the mouse instead of holding down alt, for right click

I actually really like Vista. Its not vista's problem that you're getting loads of pop-ups... stop looking at all the boobies! :p

Why not put Sygate on Vista? I'd also recommend Spybot, AVG or ZoneAlarm :)

    I've got..

    'Spyware Blaster'
    Adaware
    Registry Mechanic
    Hijack This
    Crap Cleaner

The only thing I haven't got which I had on XP is Sygate Firewall, and now I'm getting all kinds of problems.
