I just got off the phone with my best friend who's a g-men fan, and we both have to disagree...Eli was a lucky m-fer tonight. He threw into triple coverage a bunch of times, had a couple picks dropped, tossed a bunch of balls off of his back foot that weren't anything close to good decisions, and still take home the MVP over a defense that destroyed the Pats was a joke.
  • i dont know where this Eli came from. Before the playoffs i would have said he sucked. now he's Mr. cool. good for him

as an eagles fan, my hats go off to the giants' defense. yes, that one play where eli got away was impressive...but i'm still not a believer.

your right...no friggin way he deserved mvp. I am not saying he is a great qb yet, just had to give him some props. Seemed liek every other play Brady was on his back...Giants D was ruthless and never let up.

hahaha to someone who said he was the first female to win a superbowl.

The only problem I have as an Eagles fan is that the front office is going to argue that the Eagles were really close to the Giants losing 16-13 and 16-3 (while giving up 12 sacks with 2 O Lineman hurt) and not make any major additions to the team in the offseason.

what were you saying when two plays later he lobbed an 8 yard out into merriweather's breadbasket only to have him drop it? or the play where he just throws it up to toomer and the receiver slides his feet for the catch? or the pass that hit Asante Samuel in the hands? I swear Eli made a deal with the devil for 4 games b/c he still makes bad choices, he just got away with them. Last night reminded me of the Favre MNF game when his receivers decided they were going all out for him, and made him look awesome.

AND if we are all convinced that Eli has come of age IF they were to play the games again would you pick them to beat Tbay, Dallas, GB, or NE? The over under on wins would be set at 1.5. Put it another way, and this is coming from a Giants fan source: going forward what did you see last night that made you think that this guy is the QB of the future for the Giants? What about his performance was so outstanding that he proved he is the next coming? How many NFL QB's would you take before you thought Eli would be a good choice? 10? 12? Eli is better than before, but he's still not great...but Trent Dilfer proved that with a great D you don't have to be.

See my post after that post.

Are you talking about the throw to the sidelines where the receiver stayed inbounds and made a great play

yeah i got it...the toomer catch was so sick when manning had like 6 seconds to throw then just tossed that up for grabs on the sideline and somehow he drags both feet. Seriously most of the completions eli had we the 14 yard ins that have worked against the Pats all year, and ridiculous circus grabs. His best pass IMO was the strike to Boss that got the 4th quarter rolling. All the other big plays were things that 9 times out of 10 go the other way? How many times would Toomer come down with that, Samuel and Merriweather drop game ending Ints, Rodney Harrison not seperate the ball from Tyree, Seymour not sack Eli, it was crazy...AND I was rooting for the G-men. Going back through the whole playoff run:

How many times does Pat Crayton drop a pass on a dead sprint and a wide open field in front of him? TO get underthrown? Witten get called for forward progress taking up a time out? Eli drive the gmen in :40 for a score? Favre throw a 15 yard out to no one in particular? Miss two field goals and win?

The Giants were very very very good for sure, and put themselves in favorable positions often, but they took all the luck that the Pats seemingly had, and added that up for this super bowl. I'll take that over a 19-0 though.
  • trust me i still hate eli and yes he tried to give the game away, but he didn't and mcnabb did. God i can't believe i'm sticking up for eli but he was the mvp and donovan was the goat. GO BIRDS E.A.G.L.E.S.
