Tailgating ban at PNC.

I have seen 311 play in the NY / NJ area every year since 2000 and this is the first year they are baning tailgating. I was just wondering what anyone else's thoughts are on this. Here is a link to the article:
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/04/tailgating_banned_at_30_pnc_ba.html

I am 30 years old and my wife, my brother and his wife see 311 all the time and are BIG tailgaters. I am not trying to say that since we are 30 that we are mature but we know how to behave at a concert. Are they going to ban tailgating at NYG / NYJ games next? I have seen plenty of people over the drinking age getting arrested at games.
Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?

That place has been out of control for awhile. I don't really care one way or the other if people tailgate, but Im sick of going there and having people drunk or high to their gills infringe on my good time. If this helps, Im all for it. I don't mean to be a buzz killington, I just don't understand why people need to get inebriated. Have a few drinks and get all loosey goosey..don't drink to the point of obnoxiousness. :)

I don't see it as a problem... its a stateowned venue and the state is looking out for the people who use the facility. They aren't banning tailgating at every show, just select ones due to the type of crowds that act attracts. It's mostly directed at curbing underage drinking in the parking lot.

5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.

I agree, if you want to throw some back then so be it but I have see WAY too many people underage / and legal drinking age totally out of control. Puking all over the place and starting fights. Although I have seen it at all kinds of shows not just 311 type shows. I was at a John Cougar Mellancamp show at PNC a few years ago and there was this woman laying in her own puke on the lawn.

To me tailgating is part of the whole concert atmosphere. We get there early crack open the grill and have a good type. throw the football around, play some whiffle ball just have a good time. We have some drinks but not enough to be acting like an ass.

Exactly, tailgating is part of the concert experience. This all came about because the staggering amount of underage drinking. I don't what the solution should be..carding tailgaters? lol...

I don't know what the solution is either but I hear they are putting in video cameras in all the parking lots.

That sucks, they're trying to do that here at Irvine Meadows. That place is built for tailgaiting. So much fun. But it's horrible now with the cops in their golfcarts driving up and down every aisle with a nightstick shoved up their ass and a taser constantly ready to go.

I used to be a concert junkie. Like 15 - 20 shows a year. And I would see anything from Slipknot to James Taylor. Now that I have a mortgage to look forward to every month I cut it down to only 3 bands. If Pearl Jam, 311 or G.Love & Special sauce are in the area my wife and I will go.

we saw some jimmy buffett shows and found the same undercover atf officers arresting underage drinking at each show...how is it you can fight in a war but can't have a drink?

21years of age to have a drink is just pure nonsense. poor kids. bad donuts.

Good point. You can die and vote for this country but you can't drink in it.
