I'm thinking about purchasing one of those teach yourself a foreign language programs. I thought about using the Rosetta Stone one, I've heard about this one. Do these things really work?

I don't know anybody that has used the Rosetta Stone software, but it's supposed to be very effective if you dedicate the time and effort to it. I know that the US military/government offers it to soldiers/agents that have to go abroad. I would do my own research into that (or any other) program before blindly paying the money for it though. At the very least, check the consumer reports about the product.
