Fan-Made PJ Storytellers Project
I've got an idea, but I know it'll take lots of time and effort. I'd like to make a compilation of Pearl Jam songs with interpretations directly from the band before the songs. For example (the only example I know of at this point), the Long Road from San Diego, where Eddie explains the meaning before the song. I'd be willing to do my best at crossfades from song to song and balancing volume etc... if anyone could tell me dates and tracks where explanations are given, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, everyone.
A second thought: if Long Road is an exception and there are no other in-show interpretations of other songs, if people could direct me to interviews they may know of with interpretations, that would be great too.
1. 7/7 2006 - San Diego - Long Road
2. 5/10 2006 - Toronto Night II - I Got ID
3. 7/18 2006 - San Fransisco Night III - Red Mosquito
4. 6/18 1992 - Zurich - Alive
5. 6/18 1992 - Zurich - Once
6. 6/18 1992 - Zurich - Footsteps
(4,5 and 6 are consecutive, forming the Mamasan trilogy)
7. 6/3 2006 - New Jersey Night II - Gone
8. 6/19 2000 - Slovenia - Soon Forget
9. 6/19 2000 OR Touring Band 2000 - Insignificance
10. 6/12 2000 - Pinkpop Landgraaf - Light Years
11. 6/30 2006 - Milwaukee - Smile
12. 9/2 2000 - Philadelphia - Off He Goes
13. 11/18 2006 - Sydney - I Am Mine
14. 11/18 2006 - Sydney - Even Flow
15. 6/22 2000 - Milan - MFC
16. 2/9 2003 - Brisbane Night II - Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town
17. 2/19 2003 - Melbourne Night II - Half Full

Drop drop dropping it down...oh so gently...
Well here it comes...I touch the plane...
Turn me up...won't turn you away...
Very nice moment.
now i think about it the very same show has a very funny story before Insignificance about Slobodan Milosevic being a full-time asshole....
alternatively for the same song you could use the TB2000 story...
Seattle 2000 - "the electoral vote, and the popular vote, and i think to be popular you gota vote....this is what your vote is not and thats insignificant"...
atlanta 94 if i'm remembering correctly....:)
Pinkpop / Landgraf 00 - after Habit, before Light Years:
Ed dedicates 'Light Years' to Diane Muus from Sony Music. (She died in 1997 at an age of 33 and knew the band very well.) "So that was about a friend who is fucking up and there is nothing you can do about it! And you just watch'em go down down down. And then, other times you have got friends that don't fuck up at all and are great people. And then you just lose them for some reason. They are of the planet and you never had a chance to say goodbye. I only mention this because there was a person we used to know here and that was Diane and ah, we never got a chance to say goodbye. This is goodbye!'

doesnt he say it in german though?
"I fell in love..."
Gotta check it out.
I add a few - not all of them are fully explaining "stories":
East Rutherford I 06- after "Footsteps" Ed makes a remark about the mamasan trilogy which they play here backwards
Brisbane II 03: after "Last Exit" Ed introduces "Small Town" with the story about the picture of the woman in the VS.-booklet - she SUED the band because of that...
Corduroy - HELP! Do you know the date/place? (Sydney I '95?) Somewhere on the "Oceania '95" tour documentary (video) Ed introduces "Corduroy" with the words "This song is for the (the people in the) first row"
Irvine II 03: After "Do the evolution" Ed tells the story about the band's name - actually he's joking...pretty funny!
Melbourne II 03: After "I got shit" Ed tells how it came to the following song "1/2 full"

I made up this thread called "The translations of Eddie's onstage speeches", I included there a link to a post where I translated earlier this speech before "Come back" from Berlin 06...and which formed my idea of the translation thread - any help to fill up that one would be great also...
Rock on!

I think after five or six more submissions, I'll begin deciding how to organize the tracks, I'm between modeling the order after the way they seem to do real shows, and going softest to loudest. Thanks again for all your help, everyone.
