I love this movie, cause I relate so well to John Cusacks character. I'm a hopeless romantic, and a record geek.

But I started thinking, You know, sometimes I wish I could narrorate my life, like Cusacks character did, its called breaking the fourth wall in tv standards, Although its totally pointless in real life, it'd bee neat to have some external audience watching you that you are only aware of an is able to epathasize with you.

start a diary or buy a crappy digital video camera and make a video diary. then you could listen to yourself be self-indulgent and self-pitying in replay!

    lmao

I was lucky enough to come across the book before the movie. Loved both. I was somewhat inspired when he decided to reorder his record collection based on when purchased, what an undertaking that would be. Fortunatly, I decided my memory was too cloudy during my high school/college years to put them in order or purchase.

:D I thought about doing that too. Alphabetical and Chronological is far easier.

lol, yeah, I thought I wouldn't be the only one who was inspired. Alphabetical is the way to go, but it would have been a challenging undertaking

My wife loves this movie and watches it fairly often throughout the year.

I just wish I had record collection as massive as the main character.

    And thus begat MySpace,
    which begat Facebook,
    which begat Twitter,
    which begat Instagram...

Yeesh, remember when all that breaking the 4th wall stuff was a gimmick,
    a one-off, a quirk?
Now anybody can throw up a reaction video to indulge whatever
flash in the pan obsession is on their mind at that second.
    What a world!

    Cheers.

  • 3 things immediately come to mind when I think of this incredible movie:

-the Tasmanian devil known as Jack Black
    -The BOSS cameo
    -Beta Band's "DRY THE RAIN"
