I'm about half way through...man, this is the only book i can honestly say has ever moved me. It's a wonderful story about other possibilities and discovery of the self. So sad he never returned from his adventure though. I also thought it described very well how society turns a blind eye to those such as McCandless who are questioning of a conventional lifestyle and think laterally (which i think is the other tragedy of Into The Wild)
What did other people think of the book?

unbeknownst to me, my wife picked Into Thin Air up at the library last month and was reading it one night. i asked her what it was and she told me....
i saw Jon Krakauer's name and was intrigued. i haven't read it yet but that book put her on quite the climbing/mountain book binge. not to mention she is all into the discovery channels programs about everest.
