In 'The kingdom of the god is within you' Tolstoy proposes a transition from the 'heathen way of life' (based on violence and authority) to the 'Christian way of life' This book was written in the late 1870's. I'm wondering, in the 21st century, to what extent have we passed from one order of life to another? This book is quite hard going. Can anybody else who's read the book shed some light on Toltoy's vision of the future and his accuracy based on current public opinion and social order?

I can't contribute any thoughts about this particular book. The only Tolstoy I have read was Anna Karenina and I loved it. I was thinking of reading War and Peace but maybe I will read this book and then I can share my thoughts.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

yes and although hard going, TKOGIWY is much shorter than war and peace. I have to say i'm disappointed at the lack of feedback on this one and dismayed to see so many generic TV show threads!
