For a college class i am writing a paper about how digital downloaded has effected "the album" as an object or piece of art. I have plenty of information such as the music business going to a singles market, lack of people wanting a material object, etc. but i am having trouble coming up with a good definition that encompases what an "album" truly is. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

To me a new album was always an "experience." The art, the lyrics, everything! The thrill of rushing out and buying the new release, getting home, opening the package and playing it for the first time it was almost sexual in nature . . . sort of like a new, exciting relationship. My favourite way to listen to new stuff was to sit in the dark and let the music and words flow over, around and through me. I still get excited that way. Downloading doesn't even compare.

    Cheers!
