When I went up there in '05 to see PJ play we stayed at the Best Western, and that had to be the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed in, and we went to this bar(forget the name of it) below this restaurant called the Armadillo that was pretty cool...It was near the arena...good times.

what information are you looking for?

Rub & Tugs? Nudey bars? Seedy areas of town?

    I can help you out.
    with directions, that is.

  • definately go to gretzky's bar, even if you're not a hockey fan. if you are a hockey fan, the Hall of Fame is there. It's kinda lame, it's in a shopping mall. I'm more of a baseball fan, and their HOF is so much better

not sure where you're from but to me experiencing toronto is about experiencing the cultural diversity ... ie restaurants and little neighbourhoods ... i'm not one for touristy spots like the cn tower ... although the ROM and AGO are worth a visit if you are into museum and galleries ...

if you let us know what sort of stuff you like to do when visiting places - we can offer suggestions ...

Not much going on at the Rogers Centre in January. Definitely check out the Leafs and Raptors schedules - if either of them are in town a game is a must (if you are a sports fan)!

Lots of shopping in toronto too if that is your thing (Eaton Centre, Yorkville). And definitely a wide range of great restaurants and bars too.

Are you staying at the Rogers Center hotel?

    leafs are in town...

how long are you there for? is it entirely for leisure or limited time? weekend or weeknight?

  • Happy to help - shoot me a PM and I will give you some info. I manage a Hotel Downtown, and upgraded a bunch of PJ fans when they came here for the August EV show.

The Entertainment district is alrite, if you like clubs and that sorta thing. I live right in the city, everything is pretty close to me.

The Esplanade has a bunch of pubs and stuff.

here are some suggestions: relatively close to skydome

goto the st. lawrence market on saturday ... get yourself a peameal on a bun sandwich ... canadian bacon ... ;)

the bier market might be worth a visit in the esplanade (beers from around the world - just make sure you check the price of it - some beers are over $20 a pint

unless you are already pre-booked into the skydome hotel ... i would stay somewhere further east - closer to the core as there's not much happening in that area in january ...

i'm not booked anywhere yet...but officially now going...i'm looking for the best place to stay - that means close to bars, possibly close enough to walk to skydome (if possible)...not sure where the esplanade is, but at $20/beer i'm sure i won't go there. ;) i was looking at the sheraton, holiday inn, there are so many down in that general area.

really - any suggestions are helpful and welcome.

if you stay near union station - it's central enuf that you can walk to the skydome but also be on the subway line ...

there are cheaper beers at the bier market and would be like a 5-10 min walk from union station ...

the st. lawrence market is by the esplanade as well ...

granted - your options for near union station are pricy (fairmont) ... but further up there is a sheraton and others that you could probably get good deals on ... try priceline like someone suggested and based on where you get - we can point you further ...

if you're going with a sig. other ... go check out a show on king st. (we will rock you - i hear is good) ... or dirty dancing ...

also - let me know your favourite foods and i can offer suggestions
  • sonic boom is a great record store if you're looking for a cd store. Its probably my favourite used store I have ever been too. Its on Bloor.

Not much going on at the Rogers center in Jan. But the CN Tower is right there anyways.
  • Just don't go too south and cross the border and you'll be fine ;):D
