Any American with a conscience needs to see this. It's almost a shame it's on cable and not on network stations.
I love to turn you on

I don't care what your stance is on the war, the government, what country you're from, what religion you celebrate, what sexual orientation you may be, what gender you are, what race you are, what political party you associate yourself with, and who you're voting for this November.

YOU need to see this. Alone. Sober. Watch it. It will send you to a place you've probably never been. Sit there and watch it. It is a timeless piece of film that can be representative of many other generations. But we live in this one. And we continue to be free.

And thank goodness we have these brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. They did not question any of the above, and only leave their families in their absence...a wake of sorrow, pride, and emptiness most of us cannot fathom.

    Watch it if you can.

  • i'm gonna try to watch this. i may have to turn it off though. my brother had way too many close calls, that could have easily been him in that cemetary. gah, i just had goosebumps even thinking that...

I've had the honor of participating in military burials, both as a part of the 21 gun salate team, and the flag folding team during a couple of memorial day weekends, had a lot of reflection after the fact, very surreal.

I watched this last night. I am a man and not ashamed to say I had tears in my eyes through most of it. I was in the Navy during the initial surge in 2003 and the corpsman on my ship, Doc, as most called him went to Iraq the following year in 2004. He is the only one I knew personally who went to Iraq and am happy to say he served his duty and made it out of there in one piece. My heart breaks for the families who can't say the same for their loved ones who went to war.

The true cost of freedom is not measured in dollars and cents, but in lives lost. I always remember a bumper sticker I saw once:

"If you're reading this, thank a teacher. If you're reading this in English, thank a veteran.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

I saw it and it really shows why war is hell and how effects so many others.

I just put this on and began crying in the first minute it played....seeing the woman and child visiting the grave of her husband and seeing he was born a year after me... then seeing the next gravestone and soldier was 6 years younger then me. They were all so young........

I cried through the entire thing. Everyone should watch this, we owe it to the families of the soldiers.

The sadness of death is an overwhelming thing to take even if it's happening to a complete stranger. Many times we never want to talk about or even deal with like myself, I'd rather not talk about it even though I know should.

James Hetfield of Metallica says..., “The concept that we’re all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it’s the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point.”
