Watching The Kids...

So this weekend we had my wife's nieces and nephew down (again) and they are all the same age as my 3 kids. 2 girls and a boy. They were once cute, and dammit if I haven't tried to defend them against the wrath of my wife and mother in law when they talk about them. But holy christ these kids are brats and are fucking catered to left and right day in and day out. There are no rules, no boundaries with these guys. I can't stand them. The whining, the hissyfits, and temper tantrums. The word "no" is rarely used with them and they really don't like it when uncle steve drops the hammer. :)

Sorry to vent like this, I really hate doing that, but can ANYONE relate to this? Babysitting and getting paid for it is one thing, but doing this for family and seeing how they act just drives me up a fucking wall and I have to put up with this brats. Sometimes babysitting for family just sucks.

Thanks all...end of fucking rant.
I love to turn you on

  • I hear ya. How old are they? My wife has a nephew who's like that. he's 4, and he's never heard the word no. We actually don't speak to her sister anymore. Last year I told the kid, who was 3 at the time, that he could finish my son's snack, because he kept sticking his grimy hands into my kids snack bowl, into his mouth, then back into the snack bowl. I told him he could eat the rest of them , as Jack wouldn't be having anymore. Word got back to her that I said that, and that sparked a major blow up.

and the punishment? mom and the twins left yesterday for hawaii for the week.....dad stayed home to fix the house.....

I utterly, completely, and unconditionally can relate to this.
We had neighbors like that when we lived in Ohio. They were the kids my child was growing up with and it was getting a constant struggle to get on with them and not have my child turn into them.

I'm sorry. Hopefully it's not too frequent. I just started lying when these guys kept imposing and asking for babysitting :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

ugh. see why i dont want kidz???!!! i have a nephew (spydee) and 2 nieces. Spydee and Samanthacakes are CRAZY. i love spydee with all my heart and soul. He seems to be the only kid to reach my heart ya know? but dammit i swear, he gets in his moods where he throws fits and cries ALLLLLLLLL DAMN DAY. i just want to shake him and tell him to act RIGHT cuz it gets on my nerves when kidz cry or whine. And samanthacakes ohhhhhhh MAN. She is the brat of all brats. shes gonna be 2 in a few weeks and she HAS to get her way or shes crying and screaming on the floor. I see her do that and i just look at her and go pfffft and walk over her. :D i dont like kidz. :D and my other new niece is a baby so whatever. i dont know HOW you parents deal with it. props cuz i know it aint easy.

Man I so get you on this. My cousins two kids are just horrors, HORRORS I tell ya! Around the same age as my two youngest. My own kids are pretty well behaved, never been a moments trouble really, and these other two couldn't be more different if they tried. They treat their mother like shit, they yell at her, swear at her, harass her when she's at work, make ridiculous demands of her which she of course gives in to. They don't do a thing to help their mum, she works her arse off all day every day and comes home to a bomb site every day. These two girls were always wild, horrible kids when they were little, and now they are 15 and 13, they're even worse. I hate being around them, dread any kind of family gathering where I know they are gonna be there, and can't stand my kids being around them. When they were all younger, my kids liked it when we all got together, but even they are starting to see that these two are just awful people. I used to feel bad thinking that about them, thinking they're just kids and can't help it, badly raised or whatever. But I don't anymore, the fact of the matter is they are just not nice kids at all.

nice to see i'm not alone here. thanks all...it was a brutal weekend. temper tantrums, wasted food, crumbs and puddles everywhere. at least with my own kids they know they're gonna get their butts handed to them if they act up and they (sometimes) learn from it. i tell my oldest (6.5) that she's gonna learn, and sometimes you gotta learn the hard way to see how good you have it. those other kids just don't know. frustrating.

that said, i'd give anything to be punished and go to hawaii! ;)

Man last time this family was here, the little mama's boy (2) whips his diaper off, stands on the rug right in front of my fireplace, and pisses on my rug. If I had the photo I'd post it (it would be worth getting banned). My inlaws and sister in law thought it was cute. I was like 'WTF are you going to do about this?'

That rug held the room together man!!!

HA! I know, reading this will swear anyone off from having kids. My standard line when kids act up is "I blame the parents". Always good for a few laughs/glares, especially when it's family.
