  • Magic Johnson

You have way more marketing possibilities with a name like that.
    NERDS!
  • After knowing their future? Jordan. Not to take anything away from Magic, but he had MUCH more help than Jordan ever had.

Michael Jordan. Multiple MVPs. Defensive player of the year honors. Six Finals MVP awards. Quite possibly the best ever. Magic was good, but he was no Jordan. They both won in college. Magic played all five positions in the Finals as a rookie for a winning team. Huge stud. But Jordan was the best prime-time performer ever. He was also 1-0 versus Magic-led teams in the Finals. Jordan is the modern-day Babe Ruth.

Magic. Better name. Plus, he doesn't evoke starvation wages imagery to me through sneaker endorsement.

I'd take #23 in Carolina Blue

  • Jordan. and its not even close. Jordan made everyone around him better (case in point, Scottie Pippen)...Magic, on the other hand, needed others to make him better.

  • jordan, he had nothing when he came in the league in 1984-85, his teammates included orlando woolridge, quentin dailey and dave corzine. magic came into the league and already had kareem abdul-jabbar.

    After knowing their future?
That's one question I would ask.

Another would be what other players are on my team? If I already had a good shooting guard, I'd take Magic. If I already had a good point guard, I'd take Jordan.

If it's just about comparing these players' careers, read the responses from long red and PJ_Saluki.

Magic. Point guards have a much larger impact on the game. Plus Magic could dominate at all 5 positions. Jordan couldn't do that.

The argumant that Jordan had no help is complete bull (no pun intended) IMO. Uh, lets see, Pippen, Rodman, Kerr (highest career 3pt % in history), Grant, Kukoc. He had plenty of help.

  • This is a close call. I don't think there is a wrong answer. I would take Jordan just on personal preferences. They could both take over games, but I just think that Jordan competed against better athletes more often.

he had no help when he first got there, that's my argument. i agree with you that saying he had no help during the championship years is nonsense.
