Hi Everyone,
I am a litle nervous to send my passport via mail to get renewed. However I know that I need to do it. Does anyone have a Passport Renewal company they sent their passport to? Reasonable turnaround?

Any input would help!
I just keep moving on....

ALl you have to do is go to the post office, fill out a passport renewal form , mail in 75.00 with your old passport and you should have it in a week. Thats how long mine took. no problem at all.

If you can get to a CVS or some other place that takes passport photos, you don't even need to go to the post office. You can go to this website and download the forms you need to send in.

I don't know about renewals but I recently applied for a new passport. I went to CVS had my Passport picture taken and then went to the Post Office filled out the forms, paid the fee and they took care of the rest. I received it in 2 weeks.

It wasn't a big deal. Application, new pictures, old passport, check and you should be good. I just had to send mine in to have additional pages added. I got it back in less than 2 weeks.

I use a service called passport plus in NYC.
Quick, reliable and expensive, but so much easier than doing it myself.

I am certain there are other companies that do this

I renewed mine this year and did the expedite fee by Fed Ex so I could get it back as quickly as possible, and also so I could have a routing number. One good thing to do is to take some digital photos of your passport on the inside just in case it gets lost and you have to deal with filling out the paperwork that goes with that. Also good to take those with you when you travel, in case you lose your passport and have to go to an embassy to get a new one.

They actually return your old one with your new one. They just punch a hole in the corner so they know it's no good. I just renewed mine last year and got the old one back.

Took about 2 months tho. Lotta renewals around that time.

    do they?
good to know...b/c i don't know how many times i could get away with 'losing' mine...haha. my first passport was when i was a teen, and that didn't last long, i think only 10 years at most? altho i can't even remember how long adult passports last for, i just know i am on my 2nd adult passport. however, in the past i think they DID keep em, or destory them, so glad they give em back now, great memories!

I was actually surprised. My wife did a name change when we got married, and they sent her old one back (with the hole punched). I just figured that they kept them.

Did anyone see the new passport cards that are out? They are good for land & sea travel to canada, mexico & the caribbean. Definitely not worth it if you travel a lot to different places, but for our 6 month old son who now needs a passport to go to canada, it isn't bad for $35. I don't see us taking him to europe or anything, but we could still use it on a cruise or whatever with him.

Speaking of kids and passports, they are good for 5 years. So by the time his expires, he will be 5 years old with a passport picture of a six month old, and somehow that is legit lol... not complaining, but i don't get that.

aha...only 5 years, couldn't remember. i guess the adult passports last for 10. also figures why i am on my third, total, of passports.

haven't seen the passport card you mention, but i guess it makes sense for many.

and hey, i am walking around with a photo on my license that is 16 years old! i can't believe that is legit! :p damn.....it was right after i married, i barely look like me anymore. ;)
