I really want to have a go at this and am just wondering what other people's experiences were like if they have been?

Also, how much did you pay and how many shots did you have, and where did you do it?

Never been other than when I used to play Duck Hunt on Nintendo. Sounds like fun though.

I have quite a bit of shooting experience but only did clays once. It was at my uncle's outdoor pursuits centre so I didn't have to pay and had as many shots as I wanted so I can't help you with that.

Bit of advice, hold the shotgun as firmly into your shoulder as possible :) if it has room to blow back with the recoil, it might well dislocate your shoulder. First time I shot one of these: http://www.eliteairsoftessex.co.uk/aeg%20images/G&G%20SA80.JPG I had my eyes too close to the sight and wasn't expecting such a kick. Let's just say it's a damn good thing I was wearing glasses :p

That game was amazing. The NES lightgun made the most annoying sound ever though.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I've never been but a lot of my friends have.

Just hold the butt as tight as possible against your shoulder. You'll probably be sore the next day, but you will really be hurting if you have it loose!!
  • It's my secret favorite hobby, all the fun of shooting stuff without actually killing anything...love it!

I've done it a couple of times at my husband's uncle's house so it didn't cost anything. We used my father-in-law's shot guns and the uncles clay pigeons and he had the launcher thingy.

I had bruises on my shoulder the next day and I was holding the butt really tight. It was great fun though. I despise hunting so this is a good way to have fun with a gun without harming anything (except my shoulder).

No seriously... don't listen to them. I've never had a problem cos I was holding it right. Just listen to everything the instructor tells ya regarding how to stand and how to hold it and you'll be fine. I remember the first time I went and I was quite worried about it... especially cos a friend of mine went first and I could see her whole body kinda jerk back every time... but she just wasn't doing it right.

I LOVE clay pigeon shooting... can't remember how much it was cos it's been a while but I don't remember feeling ripped off, i.e. it was worth it. And it's actually something I was good at too :o

Didn't want to put you off. It is fun. The shoulder issue isn't that bad, just a little soreness and bruising. And if you are like Helen you won't have to worry about that.

I'm not big headed but I don't mind admitting when I'm good at something... mainly cos it doesn't happen often :D

BUT the instructor was pretty shocked and WELL impressed :) as was I!

    So yeh... be scared ;)
