What if you found a plant that gets rid of skin irritations from acne to dermatitis? I dont want to tell anyone, I dont want them to steal my idea, how do I go about marketing this and inventing a product which is enviromentally friendly?

    Not Aloe Vera is it?

I dunno, you'd probably have to patent some kind of preparation for it. No doubt would require clinical trials and various government health body approvals. I mean, thats if it's seriously an undiscovered thing. If you haven't already, do some searches on the plant in question and it's benefits for the skin. Good luck with it

    Not, aloe...

I thought maybe, I could put it in health food stores to get around the FDA... I have done direct contact with the plant leaves on many different skin ailments on different people.... alll with the same results... no other irritation and their ailment clears within a few days. I swear by this stuff!!!!! I was thinking of maybe a salve made with beeswax would be enviromentally friendly... I am afraid to go to a family owned homopathic medicine company here in my town (whom also works with bee products)... the man whom owns it is a crazy genius type, Im not sure of his business ethics, but he does runs a very integral business.

Well, if you try to get a patent on it first, then it's harder for a person to be able to steal the idea. The problem with it though, is that since it's plant derived, it's hard to get a patent in the first place. You could market it as a secret ingredient, but not sure on the laws of disclosure with that. I mean, people need to know what they're buying. Lets say this miracle ingredient was peanuts, clearly a person with a peanut allergy is not gonna be able to use it, so they need to know whats in the products they buy.
Finding a recipe for a good base cream is probably easy enough, they're all over the internet and can be made from pretty easy to access ingredients. Something like paw paw ointment is a very basic product, not too many ingredients in it, but then you'd need to know the potential interactions of different substances when mixed with your plant. Every substance on the planet has a chemical composition and when mixed with other chemical compounds, the result can be quite different to any of the compounds by themselves. Your homeopathic friend is probably a good place to start though, they are pretty extensively trained in the use of natural compounds and at the very least, he can probably steer you in the right direction.

Well once the right derivative of the plant is isolated - couldnt you make a name for it as the active ingedient? I mean, I can derive acetylsalicylic acid from sand willow bark which is the active ingredient in asprin. I assume I would have to patent the derivative/active ingredient.

i wonder if a college or university professor with some sorta Ph.d in
environmental science could help lead you in the right direction.
    good luck with your find.
