WOW... the Brilliance is staggering... the ONLY unfortunate thing about The Wire is to truly appreciate it you have to watch the the beggining. Just amazing...

here's the real deal...do I watch it a week early on demand or do I wait and watch it on my Birthday March, 11? The show is one of those that in like 3-5 years when it ends up on DVD's and non-HBO people get to see it will have a cult following like no other. It's seriously the best show I've ever watched period. BTW I'm over the 8th episode...still sad.
  • Best episode of television I have ever seen. The scene with Dukie and Michael at the end was the most powerful scene in the series.

BTW, from what I heard, the last episode does not come on demand a week early.

That episode was fucking incredible. Any chance for an extended finale? 2 hours?
  • People say it's better than the Sopranos. I find that hard to believe. I tried watching the first couple of episodes on hbo on demand. I was bored to death. Seemed like a dated, poor man's Law and Order or something. Seriously, does it get better after the pilot and first couple episodes? I really want to give it another chance.

It took me about 5 episodes before it clicked. Now I will go as far as to say.......Its one of the best tv shows of the last 20 years. It's that good!

Every season starts slow. It takes a bit longer in season 1, as you have to get too know the characters too. But around half-way first season it really starts rolling. Every season is like a really long movie, and it takes a couple of episodes to "set the table" for the ensuing drama.

I'm not a huge Soproanos fan, and if you are into long mafia stuff, this isn't for you. BUT I do think this is easily the best show I've seen on television in my lifetime. So yes give it a second shot.

    here's what you do...
you watch it on demand if its avaiable and then you watch it again and again, cause youre gonna have to to deal with everything that's gonna go down. :)

There is a friendly, heated debate going on at another Baltimore based board about the finale, and just wondering if anyone has any opinions about what they think will become of Dukie?

Dukie seems to be going the way of Bubbles, in the sense that he's hanging around the street scrounging materials to sell.

    (spoilers)

In the preview for Episode 10, there's a clip of Roland Prez (can't spell the rest of his second name :p) from the previous seasons talking to Dukie, so I assume he has some sort of intervention.

Yeah and if you notice in that preview Dukie is filthy. Some people think Prez rescues Dukie like Colvin did with Namond. Some think Bubbles takes him under his wing. Myself and a few others think he becomes an addict. Thats exactly what I said when Dukie was scrounging through junk to make a couple of bucks. He looked like Bubbles. I think he ends up like him too. Michael was all he had, and all he has now is whoever will take him which is a bunch of junkies. Hang around a barbershop eventually you're going to get a haircut.

According to HBO's website, the last episode will run 93 minutes. Sweet...
