Is garnett really the 2008 NBA Defensive Player of the Year?

i thought it's going to be Nuggets center Marcus Camby.

i know that KG is a great defensive player but Camby has better defensive stats. i think it's just because Garnett is with Boston, which is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, while Camby is playing in one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.

IMO, the NBA awarding the defensive team of the year instead of the defensive PLAYER of the year.

my point is, we are not awarding the defensive team of the year but it's the defensive PLAYER of the year.

there's two ways to look at it. Garnett made the Celtics much better so the rest of his teammate will get some of his stats away.

While Camby's teammates are terrible defensively so therefore Camby will stack up on the defensive stats. He gets more blocks and a bit more steals because no one else is blocking.

the voters went with the guy who helped his team.

that player/KG also turned Boston from being one of the worst defensive team last season to being the best defensive this season.

#1, 66-16 in the east...that's why they'll give the MVP to Kobe because his team is #1 in the west. Most voters will vote on success over stats.

They don't give the NBA scoring title to the guy with the most assists, they give it to the person to score the most points
