Are you "4 popped collars" cool?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x08QpHdtbtU

Being from Phoenix... this is an accurate parody of the Scottsdale scene. Probably of most scenes on a Saturday night around good ol' America.

Give me a "hole in the wall watering hole" and I'm happy... how 'bout you?

They're still doing this? Holy crap, I spent three years in Arizona during school about 8 years ago, and it was way out of style then. Geeeeeez

I lived in Scottsdale for a while (Actually lived in Anthem, worked in Scottsdale).

Crazy scene there - very superficial

I see douches and/or latino guys doing this a lot these days. Wow. I'm looking for the next trend - penny loafers. The older I get the more I realize it's good to get married before you're subjected to try and keep up with all the douchiness on the single scene. Or be left behind. :( :D

Yep, still have the Scottsdale scene. Every now and then I see a bumper sticker that says, "F*** Scottsdale" It is weird out here... you can go out and have drinks in Scottsdale, on Mill Ave in Tempe (college scene), or at Chili's or Applebee's.

    I miss east coast culture!

I think I'll be moving back to good ol' Pennsylvania within the next year or two because everyone is fake out here... or at least all the people I meet.

I live in Scottsdale and think that song/video is hilarious! :D

Scottsdale is def. really snoody and there are tons of pompous, arrogant people here. I've been here for over 2 years now and I quickly found out that getting a BMW 5 series is pretty common for a high school graduation gift...
For as many douches there are here, they are incredibly easy to avoid. I go out to the bars quite often and as long as you avoid the Old Town club nonsense there are lots of great places to go out to...and avoid the douches.

That said, it's a really nice place to live. I do hesistate to tell people that I live in North Scottsdale as I will inevitably get "that look".

Oh well, I like it and those people can fuck off because I'm pretty sure given the opportunity they'd move out of their shitty neighborhood in Mesa and move to Scottsdale in a heartbeat.

I do! For the 2 months that it is 115 degrees everyday...

I also like the 8 months per year that the weather is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT when everyone else is cold and wet.

Well I don't think people in the Valley judge you because you live in Scottsdale... they probably will judge you if you fake tan, drive a used BMW, have popped collars AND live in Scottsdale ;)

Agreed. I'm originally from Chicago and this is pretty much what I tell everyone from back home who says "Oh, but it's sooo hot out there..."

    Scottsdale/Phoenix:
    2 really hot months
    2 hot but bearable months
    8 months with PERFECT weather

    Chicago:
3 months of hot and humid nastiness
3-4 months of bitter ass cold
1 month post winter of gray and dirty slush
3-4 months of nice weather (assuming it doesn't rain and storm)

right on... and even when it is super fucking hot (like right now) you can drive 2 hours to get out of it.

This weekend the wife and I drove up to the Mogollan Rim to go camping. 80 during the day, no humidity, perfect. 55 degrees at night under the stars.

Plus, air conditioning is a novel invention. I mean seriously... how long is anyone outside here during the day? Maybe 10 minutes?

Yeah, I try to make it north during the summer for camping as much as possible. Simply beautiful up there!

Here's another one I tell people from back home too. In March I went skiing up in Pine Top. The next day I was hanging out at the pool in the nice warm sun. Not too many other places where you can do that.

Two weekends ago I was hanging out on the beach at Rocky Pt.

Chicago may have better food, but there is just so much to do here. :D

absolutely! It is great here for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. I can put up with 115 degree highs for 2 months...

Plus there are lots of douche bags at the Scottsdale bars to make fun of!
