1. Use the space below for a personal statement giving estimation of your qualifications (strengths and weaknesses), your thoughts on the direction which education should take today and in the future and your role in effecting these changes, and important autobiographical information.
How the hell am I supposed to answer that?

Seems like a pretty standard question. If you are interested in educating people it shouldn't be too hard...
Or just say - I'm interested in this job because I think it would be fairly easy to shake down children for their lunch money.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

you said should be taking in your first post. so then, it's what you think education/educators should do to affect these changes. obviously, i'd be a bit vague and broad. they don't want a dissertation, just overall thoughts. so ideas about encouraging individual thought and growth while still preparing students for the future and being well-rounded individuals, etc. educators love educator-speak, idealogies, methodologies, pedagogy, etc...ya see?how you can affect such change is your role in the classroom, how you influence your students, help them grow and learn as individuals, etc. it does present as a daunting question at first glance...they usually do, but just go with the general ideas and summarize your thoughts. a few standout statements for each part of the question should suffice.

Tell them we need to get kids to re-embrace their sense of community, family, and responsibility in this ever changing world. We need to focus on our impact on the environment and how we foster positive change to develop happy, healthy, individuals who are ready, and more importantly, excited to be productive members of our society and leaders of the future.
Or some other bullshit.Idaho's Premier Outdoor Writer

Wow, that is pretty deep. What makes this tough is that I really dont want to do this very badly........I just really need a higher paying/steady job right now and things are not looking that great in my fields.Alpine Valley 2000

actually, it's not very deep at all; more like vague and broad as i said it should be.as a former educator, i just know the drill. and most especially for a substitute teaching position, sure they wnt to know your thoughts and qualifications and that you actually give a shit...but it is no where near as overwhelming than going for full-time teaching gigs. yikes. anyhoo, i would hope you have some interest in truly teaching, b/c otherwise you will be fed to the wolves if you do get the job, and yea....if it's just $$$, really, you could probably do better elsehere and sure, the students deserve better than that too. either way, good luck!
