    Well financially I don't have a lot of money, probably less than most people, but I don't consider myself poor or lower class either, for that matter. :)

    Ha, I understand what you mean. Sometimes I feel poor compared to people on here because they're talking about traveling all over the country to see 5 pearl jam shows and I can barely even afford to pay all my bills every month.

    count me as poor. i cant even really afford the pj shows im going too, luckly its only alittle over an hour drive. oh well none of my friends have jobs either. being poor is ok i guess...

    Thats exactly what I mean. Ive been done with college for a year, I am about 30000 in debt, I have a broken car, I dont have a steady job and have yet to find what I would consider a career, I still live in the basement of my parents house, I feel like I will never be able to afford an engagement ring let alone to be married to my girlfriend of over 5 years. I am just frustrated as hell right now, not because I cant afford a bunch of nice material things but because I cant even get on with what should be just an average normal life for a 24 year old.

    Don't confuse middle and upper-middle class with upper class. I think the historic definition of upper class in the US is those w/ a net worth of over $1M.

    But that *is* an average normal life for a 24 yr old.

    I know it feels frustrating right now, but it truly won't always be like that.

    When I was 24, I shared a studio apartment with my boyfriend and I was bringing home around $280 - $300 a week. It was really hard. The only reason we could afford to buy or do anything extra was because he happened to luck into a really good job with the federal government right out of college...but everyone else we knew that was our age was struggling, living paycheck to paycheck and (sadly) on credit cards.

    My kids have food/seasonal allergies and our medical expenses are pretty high...I haven't been able to afford to go to a concert in over 10 years now :( BUT, I feel pretty rich because I do have my family and their love, and ya can't buy that! :D
