Wikipedia said it only lasted one season
It was only one season. When NBC told the XFL they weren't going to air any more games after the first season, the XFL thought they could survive solely on the network that broadcasted the WWF matches, but they could never work out an agreement. So before it even got close to the second season, the league shut down (after only 1 season). The catalyst was NBC though.
  • Since I too found the proposition of owning an XFL shirt quite amusing, I checked Ebay; you can "Buy It Now" for as low as $1.99. They are even refered to as vintage! I love it!!

    No girl sizes though

Definitely, I cant believe that people still try to come up with leagues to compete with the NFL.

There's one already out better than the NFL... the NCAA :)

The love affair between white people and old stuff literally goes back for hundreds of years. In the older days, it was almost exclusively contained within the realm of furniture. While white people still love antiques, they don’t always fit so well with a modern lifestyle and kitchen.

Beginning in their late teens, white people begin an obsession with finding cool vintage clothing at local thrift shops and Goodwills. Making purchases at these locations address a number of white person needs.

First, it allows them to say “oh, this? I got this shirt at Goodwill for $3.” This statement focuses the attention on the shirt, taking attention away from the $350 jeans and $200 shoes. The white person can then retain that precious ‘indie’ cred.

Secondly, it allows a white person to have something that other white people don’t. This is an important consideration when trying to determine the worth and ranking of white people.

As white people get older, and the opportunities to wear a “Pittsburgh Special Olympics ‘76″ T-shirt diminish, they must move their vintage fetish from clothes to furniture and knick knacks. For a post-30 white person, the mention of a ‘vintage stove’ or ‘vintage card catalog” can send their imaginations racing about how to incorporate it into their current home decor.

By having at least one vintage, unique piece of furniture in a room full of Ikea, white people can still tell themselves that they are unique and cooler than their friends.

When you enter a white person’s home, you should immediately search for anything not made by Ikea, Crate and Barrel or Athropologie. Upon finding such an item, you should ask “where did you get that? It’s really cool.” The white person will then tell you a story about how they acquired it, allowing them to feel cool and giving them a reminder about their fantastic taste.

So fanch, buy or don't buy? You've got two contradicting posts.

although I don't consider anything only 7 years old to be vintage.....vintage is at the very least a decade old.....

Well see, you are right. Good eye, Marky Mark. Obviously, you are getting good vibrations here.

See, for "ironic" humor, it must be non-mainstream for at least ten years for other white people to see hte irony and laugh. Therefore, if pjoasisrule buys the shirt, it won't be ironic and won't be funny. Other white people will just think that he is behind the times, loves pro wrestling, and lives in a trailer.

Now for GoingToLukins, she views the shirt as "vintage." To be vintage, you are saying to other white people, "Hey, I am cooler than you because I have this vintage stuff that you don't have." This has nothing to do with humor. Now, as you keenly identified, what is "vintage" has some subjectivity to it, and other white people may not see it as vintage. Again, she may be seen as behind the times, a fan of pro wresting, and a resident of a trailer.

    Good call, Marky Mark!

Note: Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch are 10 years past popularity, so therefore your username qualifies as ironic and thus hilarious in white person humor. Any and all other white people who see your username will clearly see the irony of that name on a PJ board and will surely laugh. Well done!

The league had a couple of things going for it:

    1) Great finances. As a single-entity league, there was no debt or dire financial situations to deal with.
    2) Fair player salaries that weren't overinflated. $5000 per week for a qb, $3500 per week for a returner/specialist, and $4000 per week for every other position. On those salaries, it would be like Tom Brady or Payton Manning playing for only like $110,000 per year.
    3) The cheerleaders. Granted some were fake and plastic-y looking, but there were a few that were smokin' hot.

The only thing that doomed the league was when NBC decided not to air any games for the second season. That started the downfall, and the league shut down after that.
Shows how important the TV money is....even to the NFL.

It is so true that old people cannot wear vintage stuff, it would be completely unacceptable.

I gotcha...don't buy the shirt regardless because it's not ironic and vintage is subjective. Cancel that ebay order....
