Kind of a cool idea for a documentary but it looks kinda phony (like MTV's so called reality shows)

Is there no such thing as a jock who likes math but is also alternative?
edit: That last part where that dude has his head on the table is hilarious.

and yes those cliques do exist...
even up here, i remember in high school there were different wings or corridors of the school that certain groups hung out in. the math wing had all the super smart math people, the computer wing obviously the gamers, the front foyer was where all the 'popular' people hung out, the skatepark was for the stoners, near the courtyard was the bible thumpers.... etc etc. it was like a mini-world... with different countries and groups of people... hahaha...
First off, why is everybody white?
Oh man...I think that's why shit in America is just getting worse and worse. People are still holding onto this 1950's fantasy-world idea of what high school is like.
Nowadays, high schools are being overrun by gangs, violence, drugs, teen pregnancy, racial tension...etc. These "cliques" are just a fantasy-world concoction leftover from one too many after school specials.
They might as well just play re-runs of Saved By The Bell. I really don't see a difference.

slater wasn't playin' any drums in that trailer... what a badass, that AC!
My intention was not to contradict your statements.
I just think that there's a darker reality to american high schools these days that just isn't being addressed.
And at my high school there were cliques, but none so pronounced as those denoted in that trailer.
I went to a rich fancy-pants high school, so maybe that's why it was different.
Basically, there were the druggies, the non-druggies, the poor, the rich, the surfers, the beautiful, and the not-so-beautiful. That was it.
There were athletes, but they weren't "jocks" so much as they were druggies or non-druggies.

but back on track, i went to school in canada. So OBVIOUSLY there were no guns, or violence, or drugs ...except weed. lots of weed. (hey, its bc)
(i am kidding ...not about the weed part though)
My school had a really bad reputation. There weren't gangs, though. Not too much violence either. But lots and lots of drugs. You did have a few cliques, but they were nothing like in that American Teen trailer , they were punks, goths, squatters, trash metal guys, stoners, speed freaks, coke heads, ravers and of course the hippies, skaters and circus people. Almost all of them did drugs. You could get your hands on anything in high school, but you had to know the right people.
But there were plenty of "normal people (with no specific characteristics, and more general interest)," though, like in most school here. You have "three levels" of education here. The smart people go to "level one", people who want to do more technical stuff go to "level two" and people who want to learn a profession or a skill (metal, car mechanic, carpenter...) go to "level three". It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with intelligence but it was clear that the dumbest people were usually in "level three or two". "Level two and three" schools often have bad reputations. Mine was a level two and three only school (most schools offer all three levels).

Good choices
I would say I like those movies in that order
I think a lot of it depends on what you can relate to the most growing up

I personally know a practicing physician, a silicon valley programmer, and numerous CPA's who started out at community colleges and eventually transferred to reputable universities.
In fact, it's cheaper that way.
Of course, the social scene isn't the same. In fact, a great way to make sure you look back on college with regret is to do your first two years at a community college. It's the best way to make sure you never get invited to any parties.
But, that's life.
