Anybody heard anything new about this lately? I heard about it awhile back but there wasnt much info on it. I know its gonna be somewhat based on the book sequel which I have not read but what possible events/happenings/inventions would you like to see weaved in?

Something involving computers and the internet
LA Riots
Grunge music
MTV
Yuppies
End of Cold War
More about HIV, maybe something involving homosexuality
Columbine Massacre
Gulf War
Ending with Sep. 11th maybe?
Alpine Valley 2000
Summerfest 2006

I would like to see Forest Jr. go through a rebellious stage where he throws big cocaine parties with sex orgies at the house while forest sr. just looks on with dismay.

Then there should be a scene where Forest Sr. confronts Forest Jr. about his debauchery, and Forest Jr. replies, "What do you know? You're just an idiot. The only reason mom married you is because she was sick."

Then Forest Sr. goes to Lt. Dan to ask for advice on raising his son, and Lt. Dan says, "Well, in my family, the men were expected to join the military and die their country."

So, Sr. sends Jr. off to military school. Fast fwd a few years and Jr. gets sent to Gulf War I, only to return with Gulf War Syndrome. The radiation-related disease eventually gets the better of him and Sr. is once again left alone at the House.

Inspired by Lance Armstrong's victory in 1999, Sr. decides to bicycle across the US on a Trek touring bike.

Upon his return home, Sr. decides to read "Flowers for Algenon" and has the Gump medical center devise a way to improve his intelligence.

After undergoing an operation to make his brain operate normally, he gets a PhD in economics and writes a book called "How the Bush administration poisoned the US economy". It's about how interest only loans, low interest rates, and other government subsidies and lax regulations led to sickening inflation, which almost destroyed the US economy.

He ends up winning the nobel prize for his research, and once again gets to visit the white house and meet the president, who happens to be......

I dont think so at all, plenty of important events happened in the years after, and they could show him raising his son. I could think of much worse movies that they could or have done sequels for. It could make tons of sense for Forrest Gump.

i mean in some ways it would be interesting, like which events would be included since the release of the original. but i dont think that is the type of movie that you turn into a sequel.

It follows him through his life, why not pick up where the other one left off?

I heard the book was awful...

Seems like a bad idea to me. I hear they're going to make a Titanic 2 though.
  • Oh god...now I'll have to go through another 2 years of people reciting Gump quotes every day.

The book sequel was horrible. Even if they decided to go away from the book, I wish they would leave it be. It was good the first time around. Too many times in the last ten years has sequels to good movies ruined even that movie.

I've read the sequel. it sucks and shouldn't (and will never) be made into a movie.
