was a success.
i'm disappointed i couldn't get out of work to go downtown and attend but from what it looks like it was a great positive atmosphere.
for those of you who don't know who the westboro baptist church is, they are a fundamentalist 'baptist' group who protests almost everything they don't believe in - including soldier's funerals, homosexuals, even obama's grandma's funeral they were looking to protest at. there are some documentaries on google video for those of you who are interested.
anyways, they were planning to come up and protest the Laramie Project, which is a play based on a true event where a homosexual university student was murdered because of his sexuality.
people in vancouver organized a counter protest, basically inviting all they could to come out to hold an anti-hate rally in support of the play and against the WBC.
the news story is here: http://www.globaltv.com/globaltv/bc/video/index.html
it is called pro-play rally.
this is the facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?ref=mb#/group.php?gid=33191679236
just thought it was very positive and thought i'd share.

Fred Phelps:
FUCK OFF
Sincerely,
The Universe
"The world fascinates me."
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"

I love it!
Guy that works the gates - "Fred Phelps you say? One minute please"
*gate guy walks away*
Gate Guy - "Uh...God...he's here"
*God and Gate Guy return to the gate*
God - "Hey, Fred. FUCK OFF."
"The world fascinates me."
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"
You just made my day!
"The world fascinates me."
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"
Eh, best not to dwell.
Let's say that although they all died at the same time, they're all from different parts of the world and died of naturals cause; therefore there's no great tragedy and it's an extra kick in Phelps' face.
haha...I can only imagine the look on his face...wondering why the gate guy made him wait, then seeing a lineup of multi-cultural gay people walk right in
"The world fascinates me."
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"
Of course, the best part is, he is getting up there in years...
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {
reality.equals(false);
work = work +1;
}system("pause");
return 0;}

Good ol' Canada

Well, of course...don't you know all border guards are gay, anti-christ, abortionists? :rolleyes:
I think it's part of the job description or something
"The world fascinates me."
"Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"
It's a reaction to a plan by college students over here to get Fred Phelps over for a debate, then have him arrested for "Incitement to Hatred". Too bad he refused.
