I was on my way out to downtown last night when we heard an announcement that Nanaimo station was closed and to use alternate routes... it came on just after we had passed the station. I heard it was a police incident but only checked it out right now... looking at the time it happened I must have been on the opposite train just passing that one... i found it kinda crazy. Only kinda though.

A woman who may have been acting in self-defence was arrested last night after a stabbing on a SkyTrain car in east Vancouver.
She was picked up by Vancouver police after fleeing through Nanaimo Station from a train where a man had received superficial wounds at about 6:30 p.m., said TransLink spokesman Drew Snider.
He said another man who was not the victim "was arrested by Transit Police on suspicion of assault in connection with the incidents leading up to the stabbing."
Passengers used the car's security alarm and intercom to call for help.

haha and thanks, luckily i wasn't going east bound!
that'd suck though, i can just picture me getting stabbed and screaming... NOOO BUT I HAVNT MADE IT TO MSG YET!!
HA! Too funny! That's probably what I'd be screaming too if I had tix to MSG! Not "Help POLICE!"
I'm not great with public transport anyway, I must confess. I rarely, if ever, get on it here without being with someone else and I know I should utilize it more, but there's some nut jobs out there and they seem to congregate on public transport and knowing my luck I'd be exactly the kind of person they'd find. I've discovered recently I don't just have an arsehole magnet but a nutter magnet as well!
I'm glad you're ok and I'm really glad you posted this so I know to be wary of the trains there instead of hopping on all excited and tourist like and winding up on the front page of the paper!

never heard about that...
and yes vancouver is getting bad. even out in the valley we're seeing more and more homeless people and drug addicts.
welcome to vancouver, 2010!
I heard about that a couple of days ago, apparently it happened at Metrotown and the surrounding 2 stations were closed. I can't help but wonder how the Translink expansion is going to affect the rest of the valley! Isn't it supposed to continue along Fraser Hwy and out to Langley in the next 15 years?

which is cool i guess so Langleyans dont have to catch buses to surrey central (we all know how surrey central is)... hopefuly by 2015 i wont still be living in langley though!
