Randy Moss a Cowboy?

(Keeping in mind, yeah I'm aware people hate Tony Romo and the Cowboys. And T.O. would probably be a distraction in the locker room.)
What would be your opinion if Jerry Jones, thinking that odds are that the salary cap will be no more after the 2010 season upon owner veto, signs Randy Moss to a back end heavy contract? You know, to side step the cap until its possible banishment.
(In November, ownership will hold a meeting about the agreement, and its widely speculated that the cap will be tossed aside. And the comish said once gone he isn't reinstating it.)
I know this is a big what if, but it is possible.

moss and TO would never be able to co-exist on the same team....0

Too bad Romo is overrated or that might be an amazing team.0

There's talk of the cap going away??? Interesting.....there goes Buffalo to Toronto....the end of some small market teams being competitive.btb002 wrote:(Keeping in mind, yeah I'm aware people hate Tony Romo and the Cowboys. And T.O. would probably be a distraction in the locker room.)

I've only heard talk about the cap going away, not revenue sharing. The NFL doesn't want to lose feel good stories like Green Bay, I would think. And as a Dallas fan, personally I'm all for it! Jones proved in the 90's he's willing to deal out the big contracts. So much so, 3/4 of our capped pay roll in '02 were on other teams. Classic Jerry! Just think of what Daniel Snyder and Jerry Jones would do.

In all seriousness. And this is a point that hasn't been raised. But with Mark Cuban and others starting a new 8 team league, competition for talent will be fierce. Cuban already stated his goal is to attract some of the 22nd best players on the roster of NFL teams by giving them a slight increase in pay. Which would cause great depth shortage in the league and quality will eventually go down. Can you immagine the terrible QB backup play that could be a result of this? So just maybe expolsion of the cap is needed for the NFL to ensure its dominance. You are just a negative mindless pud.0

marion barber would never get more than a 5 yard run because those 2 dudes don't block consistantly on run plays.I love to turn you on0 -
As a Cowboys fan, I have no problem with it either. I just don't see the Rooneys of the world going for it. Maybe that's why the NFL gave them their most recent Super Bowl.btb002 wrote:I've only heard talk about the cap going away, not revenue sharing. Wrong...TO is one of the fiercest WR blockers out there who doesn't take cheap shots like Hines Ward. Moss does not like to block, but neither does Patrick Crayton so how would Barber gain less with the addition of Moss who would likely have two people trying to cover him whereas Crayton only had one? Please check your logic.Steve Dunne wrote:marion barber would never get more than a 5 yard run because those 2 dudes don't block consistantly on run plays.
Anyway, I have already brought this question up in about week 10 or so...check the Patriots cheat thing or whatever, and everyone said I was crazy.
BUT here's the thing...
1. Moss has always loved the Dallas Cowboys (his fave team growing up)
2. He is the only other receiver TO has any sort of respect for so if he's getting more passes thrown his way then TO won't bitch too much.
3. Moss and TO both have shown that when their team's are winning they won't have too much to say to the media.
4. How many points per week would this team score? Is 70 in the realm of possibility?
5. As a Cowboys fan what else can we ask for? What as a team do we need to do to get better? In the cap era our D is ok, and youngish, our offense is full, and we still proved that winning the Super Bowl was out of our league (both NE and Ind were better, and the Giants...well they had some magical stuff going on I guess). So why not take the chance?
6. As for Romo being overrated how can he be when no one thinks he's that good?0 -

Dude - consistantly...key word there. And before you jump my shit again, I've been a Cowboys fan for over 30 years. Yes it would be cool to see them on the same team.
As for your #6 regarding Tony Romo-Simpson, I don't think he's the answer for the Cowboys, but at least he's mobile...I'll give him that. I hope he gets better with his experience at the helm.I love to turn you on0 -

Romo may not be the solution, but for the next handful of years, he's the only choice. Though I'm still squarely on the Romo boat. You could tell that finger injury was bothering him at season's end. True he choked the year before in December, but he was a rookie, essentially. He still put up moster numbers, 13 wins, and kept the team competitve. And as the Giants proved in the Super Bowl, you don't have to be great to win one. The contract was a bit much at that stage though. But QB's don't come around all the time. You are just a negative mindless pud.0 -

Romo definitely was hurtin' a bit at the end of the year (couldn't throw a 50 yard pass to TO to beat the g-men), but still had them in position to win that game. Funny thing is if Crayton doesn't drop that underhand pass with 60 yards of nothing in front of him, Eli doesn't go on a 46 second drive, Witten doesn't get called for "forward progress", the two defensive offsides against us go the other (some might say correct) way we aren't talking about what a "choke artist" Romo is because the Cowboys dominated the first 3+ qtrs of that game.
Also, don't forget that the FG-drop against Seattle was set up b/c the refs replayed Witten being stopped at the 1/2 yard line and (correctly I might add) ruled it short of the first down but incorectly placed the ball at the 1. Had they been in the correct position again, perhaps Romo scores and we aren't talking about him as a choke artist. AND remember there was plenty of time left in the game for Chris Brown to hit one of his patented 50+ yrd game winners, so maybe Tuna shouldn't have been the chicken of the sea and gone for it?
Do I think Romo is the greatest QB of all-time...hell no. Is he entertaining to have on my team...yes. Would I rather have him than Payton and Tommy... no. Would I rather have him than the rest of the league's QB's....maybe not, but there aren't many that I would rather have. I guess that would be my question back who would you rather have be your QB besides Romo after Payton and Brady? You might be able to argue for a few Big Ben? Garrard? Hasselback? Favre? Eli (Romo has beaten him 3 of 4 starts)?
If he's truly overrated, and most announcers/pundits would put him in the top 10 of QBs in the NFL then you have to be able to find 8 more that you would rather have. Top 5? What three would you rather have?0 -

My deepest apologies to Peter King then. Still, not even King knows how the new upstart UFL will affect things. Or... it could result in an inflated cap. To my understanding, teams share revenue up to a certain amount. And once you pass that threshold you keep the extra without having to pay in. I think the Cowboys were the first exceed it, followed by the Skins. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So if the cap goes away, the only teams really affected with be those two because they have the extra capital. Not to mention Dallas will have more money coming from the new stadium. We could be looking at the Yanks and the Sox NFL style a couple years down the road! You are just a negative mindless pud.0 -
I think this could work because Moss runs deep routes almost exclusively while TO would be the possession receiver.
Moss would replace Crayton or Glenn not TO.10/31/2000 (****)

Randy Moss requires the diciplines of the Belichick System. He needs that whole robot 'Stepford Football Player' thing.
Outside of the Belichick System... he reverts to that whinny ass primadonna wide reciever on the Raiders.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I go back to my earlier statement about the Rooney family....they can't compete in that kind of open market, thus they will use their pull to see that this never comes to pass.NOCODE#1 wrote:if peter king says its not happening, its not happeningAll the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you.
