Well last night my XBox 360 died. I know, nothing unusual. But this will be my third time sending one in. And quite frankly, it's getting a little annoying. So I'm just wondering if anyone on the board has some helpful hints as to how I might prevent Snowball IV from dying when I get another in 3-4 weeks.

Thanks.
You are just a negative mindless pud.

Make sure it's well vented....and maybe upgrade the cooling system when you get the new one.

    Good luck!

I see that they have cooling stands available for like $10. I haven't tried one, but I'm going to pick one up one of these days. I've had to send mine in twice and the third one would be really annoying.

*EDIT* looks like someone already posted this...I wonder if they really work. The only thing I don't want to do is do anything that could hurt the warranty.

I wouldn't get the type of fan that attaches to it, but just a standalone fan to aim at it should be fine.

If you get three red lights it might be your power cord. My cooling fan messed up the connection and sometimes I get red ring of death if it's not quite plugged in all the way.

I have heard mixed reviews about the cooling fans. I'm just not sold on them.

Fortunately, I bought the replacement plan through Best Buy and it was pretty painless. I'm one of the *LUCKY ONES* who has only been through 1 replacement in about 14 months. I kinda wish they'd give the option to swap it for a PS3 at this point. I just don't think it's fair for people to have to keep taking a faulty product back again and again just to get it replaced with the sam POS. Don't get me wrong, I love my 360, I just wish they were dependable in the least.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I have a couple of friends that just use a regular fan and just blow it on it when its running. The one still has his original (yeah, it is possible haha) and the other is only on his second...and when it died it wasn't due to overheating so maybe the fan works. I dunno.

My brother is still on his original from fall 06, and most others I know (including myself) are on our second. First one lasted just over a year ;)
