he shouldn't have walked away in the first place. last year was his best year since like 1998. now that he did retire and is trying to come back, it's going to be ugly. not matter who he plays for next year, he's not going to be 13-3 and playing in any conference championships.

the only thing that pisses me off about Favre is that once he retires for a second time, we'll have to sit through another 5 months of Favre tribute programming on NFL network. FUCK!!

never officially sent in his papers.

and I think he should do whatever he likes. I mean there's lots of 'normal' people who retire from work, then eventually go back, so why shouldn't he? Its not like he is washed up or anything. He was 2nd in MVP voting last year. I say come back. Love watching that guy compete

He obviously loves attention. He's no better than T.O. Actually, he's worse. Atleast T.O. is funny.

He's probably reached the point where he realizes he's nothing if he doesn't football. I think it shows he's a self obsessed douche.

There's nothing I respect more than someone who was good at one thing.... Who can walk away from it at their peak, only to excel at something else. Farve's not that type of guy because he'd have to start over.

    He's overrated and he's a self-obsessed douche. I'm sick of seeing him on espn.com.

he should of just stated at the end of the last yr that he was thinking about retiring but to announce it and then go thru this it just makes him look bad specially if he ends up on another team ....

I've always really liked Favre, but he deserves to be called out on this crap... He retires in a tearful ceremony, then word gets out about him wanting to come back, and now he is saying that the ball is in the Packer's court... No, Brett, it's not... You expect a team to put their future plans on hold, and keep $12 million in cap space because you might come back???

Make up your freakin' mind douche... if you want to come back, say you do, then that forces the team to make a decision to either trade you, release you or keep you on the team. If you aren't coming back, then shut the hell up and either relax at home or take a job on TV somewhere.

Athletes never want to give it up: i.e. Jerry Rice trying out for the Broncos after playing for Seattle and the Raiders, Unitas with the Chargers, Namath with the Rams, Montana with the Chiefs, etc., etc.

Most great athletes never want to give it up until its too late. It's all they know.

In my opinion that is what makes Barry Sanders so great. He left when he was on the top of his game and never looked back. He left on his terms and has just faded into the sunset. That's class.....

I honestly don't have a problem with them sticking around too long... it's not my life, and they won't be remembered for it. I'm a Steeler fan, and no one remembers Franco Harris in a Seahawks uniform... no one remembers Michael Jordan as a Wizard, etc.... I don't really think sticking around too long ruins their legacy.

But for Favre, what bothers me is he had this press conference to retire, and now is dicking around trying to make the packers out to be the bad guys, etc... if you weren't 100% sure you were done, don't announce your retirement.

IMO that press conference in March was him saying good bye to GB not to the game of football.

I guess that's where we are different. I remember Jordan bumbling around in DC. I remember Rice dropping passes as a Raider. I remember Wade Boggs celebrating his 3,000th hit as a D Ray.

I guess I'm a dinosaur when it comes to sport and still miss the traditions and loyalty that used to exist.
