I love forrest but I think evans is hungry and quick. I think its gonna be a brutal fight that will end in a bloody knockout. I'm leaning towards rashard right now, but haven't made a final decision yet.
Also , I think mir has no chance!
I'm excited, but I just don’t know what to say, it's will be close, Forrest seems to raise his game for every fight now, he’ll push right to the end, but Rashad still unbeaten, knock out power, wrestling. I’d say decision to Forrest, he may just grind rashad down, but It’s hard to call……………… I’m still undecided.0 -
On another note, more official fights for UFC 93, it’s looking like a strong card, maybe that's just because I’m going to it
Kang Makes UFC Debut on January 17th in Dublin
By Thomas Gerbasi
Highly-regarded middleweight contender Dennis Kang will make his long awaited UFC debut on January 17th, when he takes on Alan “The Talent” Belcher on the televised portion of UFC 93 at the O2 in Dublin, Ireland.
Also added to the UFC 93 main card is the long-awaited welterweight showdown between Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis and Chris “Lights Out” Lytle, and a middleweight bout between submission specialist Rousimar Palhares and former UFC title challenger Jeremy Horn.
UFC 93 is headlined by a light heavyweight bout pitting Rich Franklin against Dan Henderson and the rematch between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and UFC Hall of Famer Mark “The Hammer” Coleman. Tickets to the event are sold out, but the show can be viewed on pay-per-view television.
In recently confirmed bouts on the off-TV portion of the card, Italian light heavyweight Ivan Serati will step into the Octagon for the first time against Poland’s Tomasz Drwal, Germany’s Dennis Siver takes on the United States’ Nate Mohr in a lightweight battle, and Dublin’s own Thomas Egan squares off against Brighton, England’s John Hathaway in a clash of unbeaten welterweights.

FollowMyWay wrote:Yeah I saw this a few days ago, it was two drunk people who wouldn’t sit down for the whole event (from what I’ve read anyway). But it did involve a fighter. K1 kickboxing star Ray Sefo and his brother were involved, they were sitting behind them and couldn’t really see and eventually got angry (as you would) then some words were exchange and that’s when it kick off but they weren’t the ones who were fighting, it was other people around that area who threw the punches. That’s just what I heard about it anyway.
the first shocking thing is why would you ever want to piss off a guy who looks like ray sefo and the rest of the guys i could imagine him hanging around with?!?!...and maybe not shockingly, but surprisingly, they didn't recognize him? strange. although, i suppose if an maa fan hasn't seen k-1, maybe they wouldn't have a clue, but still...
thanks for clearing that up. crazy that it was ray sefo in the area! i guess the guys are lucky it was only the cops who were man handling them!0 -

that's awesome, followmyway! it looks like a solid card. i'd heard clay guida vs. kurt pellegrino also rumoured for the card, but it looks like they may have been bumped to another one. still a great show for the first one in dublin. the televised portion, particularly, has a lot of potential. the debut of denis kang in the UFC, and a great main event too!
enjoy the show! i'm jealous!0 -
weigh-ins are complete for tomorrow night's outstanding WEC show. this event looks spectacular on paper, and as a fan of the lighter weight classes it's good to see them getting more air time now that the MW and LHW divisions are folding into the UFC.
could be a fight of the year candidate as the main event! i cannot wait for this show!anyone planning to check this one out?

Just watching the Pride Final Conflict absolute 2006 event.
Ever notice the pride matches are like the Iron Chef version of UFC?
Man...it's a bit wacky. Especially when they announce the fighters and they walk down that long decline ramp...it just keeps reminding me of the Iron Chef TV show for some reason.
Also you never really know when the round is going to end because they rarely put the time up...it takes away from the excitement.
anyhow...that is allProgress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

i've never seen iron chef, roland, but your comparison sounds funny.i always used to fear for lenne hardt's ("the screaming pride lady") well being when she was introducing people like antonio minotauro rodrigo nogueira. by the time she got to the high pitch in the end of nog"uie"ra, i thought for sure she'd be ready to pass out! haha

Top 2008 Trends
Top 10 Influential Women
By Vera H-C Chan, Yahoo! Buzz Log senior editor
Females make up more than half the U.S. population, so a category devoted to women smacks of, well, a separate-but-equal standing. But with two women coming so close to the nation's two top jobs and others breaking barriers within their own disciplines, acknowledgment is due for the passions that influential females stoked in 2008.
1 Angelina Jolie
2 Sarah Palin
3 Oprah Winfrey
4 Hillary Clinton
5 Gina Carano
6 Tina Fey
7 Michelle Obama
8 Katie Couric
9 Barbara Walters
10 Dara Torres
....
Fight Girls
Heavily pregnant with twins, Angelina Jolie proved to be a fertility goddess (in vitro aside) who could be an avenging fighter onscreen. Perhaps the first crossover action heroine A-lister, she voiced the female tigress in "Kung Fu Panda," proved the main attraction as the tattooed assassin in "Wanted" (which pulled a higher-per-screen average than the G-rated box-office hit "Wall*E"), and embodied fierce motherhood in Clint Eastwood's "Changeling." As for her own motherhood, celebrity tabloids' false labor accounts convulsed Searchers to seek a peek of Jolie's offspring. With the latest trend to sell baby photos rather than have paparazzi profit, Jolie and Brad Pitt donated the record $14 million payout to their charitable Jolie/Pitt Foundation. Magazine covers tracked multiple stages of Jolie's pregnancy, and a W magazine showcase of Pitt's intimate photos made breastfeeding glamorous.
The Olympics provided ample opportunities for a generation of athletic stars such as the new gymnastic crop and the beach volleyball duo, but it was hard to resist the story of Dara Torres, who already made a record as the oldest female swimmer in the 2000 Olympics (and also kicked off the trend to be the first athlete modeling for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue). Searchers poured over her attempts to be the first and oldest swimmer to make five Olympics. Undefeated kickboxing champ Gina Carano upped her profile in her turn as Crush on "American Gladiators," then later made television history in the first primetime female fight. The TV venue died within a few months, but Carano's appeal proved she was unstoppable...like so many other women in 2008.

i'm sitting here near soiling myself waiting for tonight's WEC show, when i was clicking through my guide on the tv and see a couple of episodes of "releashed"
starting out the night...first one is roger huerta vs. leonard garcia and clay guida vs. marcus aurelio, and the second is a royce gracie special with the old matches!...then the WEC show!!!...followed by two episodes of the ultimate fighter with the semi's in each weight division.
'tis a good night for mma!0 -

It's a Japanese cooking show/contest...funny shit. The screaming pride lady sounds like a space alien....they had her in the ring for a bit and she is scary looking also. Yikes.
I can definitely see the UFC improvements. Fighting in a ring is dumb, as various people have to keep holding the ropes all the time for fighters during the fight. Pride also doesn't seem to show the reach stats for each fighter. Also they grease the fighters up before they disrobe so when they take their shirt off they rub off some of the Vaseline.
I notice little things like this...I think they should hire me on as a consultant

i'll have to look into the "iron chef".
i'm with you on the ring. i like the ropes aesthetically, but functionally...it just doesn't work. there are so many fights i've seen that get interrupted because of the ropes. some organizations used to / still do stand the fight up...doesn't matter if there's a submission being attempted or not! it's too bad we couldn't come up with something that has the safety of a cage and is functional, but also allows better visibility like the rope...hmm...where's a consultant when you need one?!?!haha

half hour until WEC...:)0
-
good first. benavidez is looking much improved with his striking. very fast! i'm surprised martinez is the one trying to take it to the ground.0
-
benavidez controlling the fight still with the stirking. surprising...he has to be careful about getting too fancy, though.0
-
looked like martinez finally woke up in the final minute, but benavidez will win this decision easily. bit of a one sided striking match. not quite what i was expecting.0
-
nice fight between brian bowles and will ribiero. both guys landed some nice strikes on the feet. bowles had the better positions on the ground and almost looked to have a one arm guillotine from the mount in the second. bowles was winning a competitve fight into the third. he ends up pulling ribeiro into another guillotine, this time with an arm in, then finishes it on top as ribiero rolls! good one.0
-
beautiful grappling in the first between wagnney and tamura. a lot of stalling the second and third, though. wagnney almost got an armbar at the horn in the second, but gets the arm triangle tap as the seconds were ticking down in the third.0
-
not as exciting for an overall card as i thought this show would be, but an excellent main event. torres was throwing some wild strikes and used his huge reach advantage to keep tapia away until he put him away with some big punches in the second.0
-
didn't get to see the wec card, actually forgot all about it lol. Sorry to hear it didn't turn out to good except for the main event. I was expecting Torres to win, i'll have to catch the replay if they air it again.
I did watch the final episodes of TUF and i think the finals turned out the way they should have. Thought Bader looked absolutely horrible while not really doint anything at all, but he did control the fight so he deserved the win. If he tries the same game plan against Vinny in the finals he will be subbed in the 1st round i think. I liked Krstoph(sp) but Vinny's ground game is just insane, if you give that guy even the slightest chance at sub he's going to get it.
The Philopino Fainter is incredible! Nover is seriously a beast and easily the best all around guy on the show in years, i wouldn't be surprised if he is contending the ufc for titles within a year or so. He hasn't even been tested yet. As for my man Junie, i'm glad he lost. I was upset by the way he wanted to quit before the fight even happened but then saw how scared he was of losing and being humiliated and was so happy when he lost cause that's going to make him grow up tons as a man. I'm not a big fan of Efrain, but he did show me alot in that fight with Junie. He was not afraid at all to stand with a better striker and he did extremely well there, then he finished it on the ground even though like Mir said, junie gave that up and let the fight end IMO.
Anyways, like i said, i'm glad junie got subbed cause i think that will do alot for his career, and i'm even happier that he's now training at extreme couture where i think he will progress even more as a fighter and a man.
I'll take Vinny and Nover in the finals, and i'll take Junie over Kaplan by cut due to thrown glass"I'll ride the wave where it takes me"

definitely check out the replay, leafs. i think i was the only one interested in it last night!
i had really high expectations for the whole main card, having so many top guys and good matches, but sometimes it just doesn't pan out completely. benavidez had an excellent debut showing, but it didn't seem like martinez could get into the fight. both bowles and ribiero were solid and it was actually quite good. i was so looking forward to tamura vs. fabiano, but it kind of turned out to be one of those cases where one guy has really good offense and the other really good defense...so they cancelled each other out for a couple of rounds.
wait until you see what torres attempted to throw at tapia!:D you'll know what i'm talking about...
have to agree with you on the TUF stuff for sure. the way that phillipe had that kimura on roop was one of the highlights of the night! if vinny had some decent stand up, i'd say the two of them could make a name for themselves very quickly. nover, though, is extremely well rounded and young. now he gets to be training full time!! i'm very excited to watch his progress. if vinny could round out his game even slightly, his bjj is so good...scary.
i'm going with vinny and phillipe as well. kaplan "can't be knocked out" so junie may have to resort to the glass throw!(it really sounds like he has turned himself around, so i hope that's the case for his own sake)
