Dog runs into the middle of the street, pay 265K

This pisses me off:

Dog gets away from owner and runs into the street
Driver swerves to avoid dog and hits a tree
Dog is killed anyway as driver still hits dog
Driver sues dog owner for $500,000

Ten years later, judges order dog owner to pay $265,000

I love animals and all, but I remember when I was going through driving school, I was tought that the worst thing you can do when an animal gets in your way - is swerving to avoid it.

This guy should counter sue for killing his dog.

What if it was a child who ran out and was killed.....do you sue the parents?

    That's absurd. Neither party should be suing the other.

    Dog owner is at fault. (No leash and his property caused the accident)
    However, 250,000+ dollars? That's insane

    Car 35,000
    + out 2 months of work 25,000
    + Pain and sufferring 15,000
    =======================
    Does not equal 250,000....

    Pure crap to me... Soooo the guy has to pay legal fees of 10 years???? Give me a break... Looks like the lawyers really won this one...
