Major League Baseball Competitive Balance

Now that the World Series features the team with the 13th highest payroll against the team with the second lowest, can we all finally admit that Major League Baseball has competitive balance in spite of large payroll discrepancies? I actually think overspending on too many superstars is more detrimental. Have a few superstars, lots of good role players, and a good manager. The recipe for success.
I need to vent here. I like to come on every year during the playoffs and see if people agree with me that Major League Baseball has seen a nice little renaissance over the past decade or so. I know some people say they are "sick of seeing the same teams win every year (?!?) Some stats that I have researched...
* 10 different teams have won the last 11 NL Pennants (wow! I guess 2/3 of the NL can be called "Big market")
* 7 different teams have won the last 9 AL Pennants.
* 21 teams have participated in an LCS since the start of 2001.
* 17 different teams have held the 24 playoff spots over the last 3 years including teams from the bottom third of that year's payroll every year.
* The teams with the top three payrolls NYY, NYM and DET all watched the playoffs at home this year.
I understand that the tv ratings will be low this year. I say "so what." This is what is good for baseball. I'll never understand why middle America is only interested if the Yankees, Cubs, Mets, Red Sox or Dodgers are in it. I watch the Series (at least a few games---as long as it isn't up against my beloved Pittsburgh Penguins) no matter who it is.
It's not what you spend. It is all about how you scout, draft and spend wisely.

Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
That is what the Rays seem to have. The Phils too. This series is no fluke. I hope, as a neutral fan, the Phils long layoff doesn't hurt them the way it hurt the Tigers in 06 and the Rockies last year. I hope we get at least six games.
