Todd Bertuzzi--4 years later

Since Todd Bertuzzi's hit on Steve Moore in 2004, his career has never been quite the same (Steve Moore's life has hasn't been the same, though).

I hadn't given him much thought in a while, but I put on tonight's Ducks-Stars playoff game and saw him playing. My question is, what do people think of him? I thought he was a punk before the Moore incident, and reviled him after. Something like that seems to follow you forever. Moore was no boyscout, but he didn't deserve what he got.

    I have mixed feelings about Bert. No one is going to defend what he did to Moore. It was wrong and he was punished. As a Canucks fan I was dissapointed and embarassed about what happened and grew tired of his moping and lacklustre play after his return. However, to be fair, Bert is not generally a dirty player. He is no Sean Avery, Chris Pronger, Chris Simon etc... He does not have a reputation for cheap shots or intent to injure. Even the Moore case, I don't think that he meant to break his neck or end his career. I can think of many, many dirtier plays that were more leniently punished because the injury was not as severe.

    Not a fan of the guy, especially these days since the Ducks are playing my Stars. I put just as much blame on Bettman; without the instigator rule this would never have happened.

    Guys should expect their careers to take a downturn after throwing a bush league cheap shot. Bertuzzi is no exception. His punch was similar, though worse because it came from behind, to one thrown in an NBA game from 1977.

    Shouldn´t play hockey anymore. Others would serve time in jail for similar things.

    This is absolutely correct.it Moore would never have put his dirty hit on Naslund if he knew he was going to be pummeled.
