MLB 2k8 for Wii

Has anyone tried the MLB 2k8 game for the Wii? I'm an XBOX360 owner myself, but was just wondering how the Wii's first "true" baseball game turned out.

I've never been a system "fanboy," I think all the systems have their pros and cons and I may own a Wii one of these years.

  • It's actually pretty good. My friend has his system modded so he downloads every game the day it's available so I played it at his house. The gameplay is smooth as can be and the controls are fun and feel very responsive. The drawbacks are that it looks like a PS2 game and there's no online component whatsoever, not even for fixing the horribly outdated rosters (Santana's still a Twin for crying out loud).

I have it for the 360 but may get it on the Wii as well. It actually has a season mode which the 360 doesn't (only has the franchise mode which I will never understand) and I'm thinking that because the rosters are so out of whack that it would be the perfect game to actually use the fantasy draft option on. That way, I wouldn't feel like I was playing the same game as on the 360.

I've played it on both 360 and Wii...and I'm not sure which is better.

I expected the 360 version to be better, but it's plagued with poor design, and bad gameplay. The Wii version is fun but not as responsive as I'd like...and as someone above mentioned it is really lacking graphically.
If I had both systems, I'd go with the 360. The Wii was just lacking.

I understand that. I have 2k7 on 360 (I don't buy new sports games every year) and it frustrates me from time to time. The worst is the outfield. When there is a fly ball it is really hard to judge. And worse is the player responsiveness, or lack thereof. I hate when there is a guy rounding third and I hit the button for the fielder to throw him out and the guy casually lobs it in like there is no rush. Did they use the Pirates as the model for this game?

Other than that, I do enjoy it.
