Hi, we are going to buy a new digital camera. Any recommendations? Looking to buy a good one and want to spend no more than +/-$300. and somewhat easy to use. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the reply! Haha, it sounds durable. :) Are you happy with the pictures it takes though? :) We have an old digital that just doesn't take very good pics, so are looking to upgrade. I know some on this board post beautiful pics and I'm wondering what camera they use. Maybe I should post this on the art forum? :)

Canon S5-IS. Has all the features you'll ever need, supports SDHC cards, so the standard for those will go up to 32GB, does video 4GB at a time and stills with 12x optical zoom and wide screen video 16:9. Most bang for the buck and can be had at the right place at the right time for approx 340-350 at this time.. If you can wait a little, probably will drop 50 or so over the next few months w/coupons/rebates etc...

    Peace

EDIT: It's 8MP as well as has the ability to zoom in and out while in video mode, which is a unique feature amongst many of similarly priced cameras.

Wow, it seems that Canon is the way to go. We've heard from others as well and everyone seems to agree! Canon it is. Thanks for all in info and input. :)

    sony cybershot.....

    check it out...
    i'm not happy yet.....
  • Do not buy a cheap Nikon. I hear the SLR's they make are nice, but don't buy the point and shoot. It takes crappy blurry pictures no matter the setting. I've had a Canon previously and it was 100 times better.
