Condo assessments suck!

Just found out I got a special assessment in my building for facade work. Either $10k payment by June 1st or my assessments go up $130 a month for next 10 years (that's the financing option). Now my assessments are $450 a month...going to make it difficult to sell my place eventually.

    we look at condos all the time in Chicago and I am always scared of getting hit with a special assessment. In my old apartment I used to live at, the building in front of me was hit hard with an assessment and everyone was trying to sell.. sad!
