I did not ask you.
He did not need help, he had his sights set on stealing so I let him. If you don't call people like that on their actions, then they will never stop doing it.
Your a democrat I bet. lol
I knew their would be one in here.
Um no....Instead of waiting to call him out after he stole why didn't you resolve the situation before it happened. You knew he was going to steal so why have the confrontation afterward. Just nip it in the butt before it happens.
Instead you acted like a tough guy and put yourself at risk for attack.

How do you know the guy would have calmly given up and walked away if he was confronted beforehand anyway?
Going up to this guy in an affeminate voice saying there was a sale on heated cheese balls on a stick probably would disarmed his thoughts on petty theft. But then again, if he was a republican, he would have been anti-gay and pushed AG away saying 'get away from me queer'. Or prolly not.
that said...
one of these summers i can't wait to get down there dressed as a gypsy and say 'I'm in the 10 Club, friend'.

I'm not saying he would have given up anything. I'm saying that if he knew the owner was there watching him he would have been less likely to steal in plain view of the shop owner. Instead he thought he could just grab and go undetected.
My point is....
Why wait until you are forced to have a confrontation when you can easily avoid it. I know this guy is a "tough guy", but I've seen/heard a lot of "tough guys" get themselves into a situation they can't handle.

Quite possible. Often times the thief will react the same way when called out on it beforehand too.
What's with all the 'tough guy' stuff? Dislike the OP?

I'm not saying "calling him out".... I'm saying make it obvious that you work there. Maybe ask if he needs something. I think this would make him aware that he is about to steal with the owner looking right at him.
By "calling him out" afterward you back him into a corner because he has already stolen and is more likely to make another irrational decision.
The OP became a tough guy when he replied with a comment calling me a "liberal". Somehow suggesting that I was a "wuss" for telling him he should handle those situations differently.
All I'm suggesting is that for his own safety in the future, he handle those situations with a little less street justice and a little more intellect.
You always hear about the guy who tried to fight off an attacker getting stabbed or shot over a couple $'s. Not worth it IMO.
....and if this guy was "Ghetto" he might be more likely to have a weapon or know how to fight.

I missed him saying that, hehe
I used to work in retail, thieves suck. The ones who were obviously going to steal were also the ones who'd start yelling at you when you talked to them more than once.

Yeah and they are very likely to become combative if you try and "pull their hoodie"
Don't get me wrong...If it comes to that you should woop their ass, but its always better to avoid the fight if you can. Street fights don't look like MMA fights. They aren't fair. People get hurt.

LOL
Sorry my way of handling it upset you.
They have metal detectors first of all. And second sorry, but I have confronted soooooo many guys like this over the years, that you see it coming and your nice guy ways go right out the window. It has happened over and over again to the point where I am fed up with it and kinda want to get into it. My wife gets mad at me because I am married and have a family now so its not fair of me to think that way but over the years of people trying to steal, I don't know it just makes my blood boil and I kinda wanna kick their ass.
Sorry, thats how I feel. If I could have cracked him one with out getting in trouble I probably would have LOL
Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

It's not upsetting me at all....I could care less.
All I'm saying is that since you have a wife and kids you may want to think twice about "Cracking" them because they might crack you back harder.
I'm saying its not worth it....I'm also not saying it ok for them to steal, but since you seem to have some sort of sixth sense for sniffing out thieves, you could do a little more to prevent the theft before it takes place.
But if it's worth being a tough guy....I hope your hand-to-hand skills are up to par.

Okay, first I should have never said anything about how much money I make in here.
Second, All I am gonna say is that their is many ways to make money when you own the business that "others" dont know about.
Please, in the future don't bring up my income again. Thanks
...
Hey... you offered up your income, not me.
I was under the impression that you owned a Construction Company or a warehouse or something like that... I never imagined that a peanut cart would gross a quarter of a million dollars a year... that, to me, is a lot of peanut because I can get a giant bag of them at Costco for like... a dollar or something. And all this time.. i've been sitting in this goddamn cubicle... making less than half that.
...
And... I get what you're saying about the "many way to make money in business that the others (cops/I.R.S.) don't know about".
Don't worry... I'm not going to say anything about those little bags of 'Rock Candy' *wink* *wink* that go for 20 bucks.

Okay... okay... settle down, Beavis.
I was just wondering how a popcorn wagon can generate over a quater of a million dollars in sales, all right? I just read an article about Ice Cream trucks that sold Meth and Crack as well as Dreamcicles and Push-Ups as *another means* to make money. *Another means* usually means something illegal. Geez... I sorry. I'm sorry I said things based upon things you have said in the past and I'm sorry I ruffled the ruffles on your panties. Now that you have explained yourself... putting it that way... then, yeah... It's a real rational reason to get into a fight over a bag of Caramel Corn.
