    Facebook is frightening. I went on there so I could keep in contact with my daughter when she was on her travels and I've had requests from some weird people to be their "friend". One was a guy I went to school with and we hated each other. 2 are friends of my eldest daughter... disturbing!!!

    One of my daughters has 537 friends... worrying!

    Just different "networking" sites... i guess a key diff is that with myspace...if you don't want the entire cyber world to look at your photos from cabo and read about how much you love pearl jam... you have to SET it that way... with facebook you're automatically "private" and blocked unless you are actually friends with that person.

    I have both but really only use facebook.

    It's like this. MySpace started out OK but the neighborhood quickly went to shit, so now it's like the ghetto. Or, as it's been described, "Digital Detroit."

    Facebook is more like living in a really nice suburb with a good mall & great after work chain restaurant bars.
    By which I mean - still lame, but not actually scary.

    i have a myspace account
    i was begged to get it for the use of communicating
    with my friends back home.
    i refused for what seemed like years.
    finally i gave in.

    it was very cool about a month ago
    some chic i have no idea who she is
    contacts me from my hometown
    thanking me for inspiring her with my poetry book
    she literally made my day

    so i guess it isn't so bad after all

    A lot of people use Facebook as a measure of how popular they 'think' they are. people just add anyone they brush against in their lives it's ridiculous. I bet they even asked the goddamn milkman if he was on Facebook.

    I agree. I have a lot of people who requested me that I don't even talk to. I probably could delete them and they wouldn't even notice.

    a way to stop friend requests you dont want is to just leave them, don;t accept them, dont decline them... they will just see pending, and then get nothing!

    I have both Myspace and Facebook.. but hardly ever use MS anymore, just to check on some bands. I use Facebook to get and be in touch mainly with my foreign friends. :)

    I don't get it. I feel bad to say no so I accept all these people who I know OF but don't know. One guy I had to ask how we knew each other and he said we went to grade school together. I have no recollection of this guy what so ever!

    I know, this girl that I don't care to ever see or speak to again in my life is asking if it's me. I never liked her then, can't remember the last time I ever saw or spoke to her, it must be like 25 years, seriously. Anyway, I'm just ignoring her request, hoping she'll go away!

    I'm glad to see I am not the only one.
    Why do these people wanna be friends with me now? I mean I know I am totally cool and handsome as hell ;) but we were not friends then and there is no need to be now?

    i still prefer myspace though, mainly to keep up with bands and concerts.
    facebook creeps me out, with its 'stalker feed,' letting you know anytime any of your friends post something/update/take a shit, etc. unnecessary.

    just about EVERY single one of my friends/acquantances/someone i've met once has one of these goddamn things.
    but i continue to stand alone and will refuse to get one!! i think its stupid!
