Is it worth going to more than one show on the Eddie tour?

I mean, his setlist is like 10 songs. Opinions from people who have went??

As reference, I usually don't like to go to more than 2 or 3 shows on a pearl jam tour because it gets kind of boring since 80% of the songs are radio (nothing wrong with that, but I hear them every show) or they played the same songs last show. Also, I'm poor, so another $80 better be worth it (I have an offer to buy a ticket to Sunday's DC show; I am already going Saturday).

Yep. I hit three on the West Coast and have went to NYC 1 and Newark and will be at DC1. They're very addicting. The songs are great, but the interaction of Ed with the crowd and his stories alone are worth the price of admission.

I always attend multiple shows for anything Pearl Jam or Rolling Stones related. Also, it seems Eddie's sets have been closer to 25-30 songs.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.
  • i went to newark and saw one hell of a show, but the only way i would go to see another would be if he came to the philly area. i would much rather travel and see the band for the same if not less money. its just not the same for me, the intimate setting is cool but i think once is enough for me this time around
Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me

If i had the time and money I would definitely go to more than the two I went to. Like Solat said just hearing Ed talk to the crowd and tell stories is worth going for.

he played like 28+ songs on both nights in Toronto ... i'm guessing off the top of my head that about 18 were the same ... it was definitely worth it for me to see both shows ... i could listen to him play MOTH and some other songs quite a few times ...

Yes absolutely it is worth going to more than one show.

I saw him twice in Vancouver, Montreal Night 2 and Massey Hall Night 1 and i am kicking myself for not staying in Toronto for the extra night!

I think he is mixing things up a little more now that he did during the early stages of the tours.
    Shows: Montreal 98, Barrie 98, Montreal 00, Montreal 03, Montreal 05, Ottawa 05, Toronto 06, Vancouver Night 1 08 (EV), Vancouver Night 2 08 (EV), MSG1 08, MSG2 08, Montreal Night 2 08 (EV), Toronto Night 1 08 (EV), Toronto 09, Hartford 11 (EV), Ottawa 11, Ottawa 16, Ottawa 22.

  • I was only going to go to T.O. 2, the one I got 10cl tix for. I was more than happy with that, figured I'd leave the other one since it looked like not much setlist variance. But last week I said, fuck it, I'm going to both, got a ticket for night 1 and it was worth every fucking penny and more. The whole show from Liam Finn at 7:30 until the end of Ed's set is amazing. I wish I could go to more! I'd urge you to go to both shows if you can, you won't regret it.

Depends on the person. Some people said they wished they only went to 1. I caught 4 of the Canadian shows; there were some differences in each one, and its more than just the setlist. Its an organic somewhat random experience, that depends not only on the songs, but Ed's mood, what's on his mind, and even what the audience is like or what they say. I guess it also depends on how much you like Ed as a solo performer. I just love hearing him sing - his voice is one of my favorites in the world. He could pretty much sing ABC's and I'd like it. The fact that he sings intelligently about interesting ideas makes it way better. ARC is amazing, amazing amazing live. No matter how much noise the audience makes at other times, when he starts in on this, the room becomes silent, and people just watch and listen. To be able to hear and watch that piece done 4 times, when I'd only ever seen it once (Montreal 03) was something I'll never forget.

    YES YES YES

It's such a close, intimate setting. Whoever characterized it as Ed sitting around a campfire with a bunch of guitars got it right.

Sure, he plays somewhat of the same set. I think he played maybe 4-5 different songs in Boston.

But, as others mentioned, the stories and interaction are fantastic. I'd go see him 5-6 times if he was playing near me and I had the $$.

So I'm guessing he plays night 1 and night 2 like they are two different crowds? Or does he treat it like most of the same people will come back?

Yep, and he often makes fun of the ngiht 1 crowd to the night 2 crowd. At least he did on the West Coast. ;)

But, it's a really different experience each night.

given your parameter, for you, i'd say not.
if i could've managed to go to both NYC ed solo shows, i would've, no hesistation...in a heartbeat. however, i already had tix to see the police for monday, and even the thursday newark gig, seeing the polic too. so the tuesday show was my one and only. if not for just traveling to see pearl jam, i might've considered going elsewhere. actually, i did anyway :p....considered montreal, but realized, given all the time and $$$ just spent on live pj, not feasible. it would've been cool to be at both ed solo NYC shows, but just was not meant to be for me. i am 100% happy for my one solo gig tho. :)
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

i have to agree with you. Every night of both Montreal and both Toronto shows was different with respect to Ed's banter with the audience (even though both nights of Toronto were filled with drunken frat boys calling out requests for Jeremy and State of Love and Trust, and constantly interrupting Ed in the middle of his sentences). That being said, Ed's song selection varies greater than i anticipated within his base setlist.

Bottom line: check as many shows out as you can, you won't be sorry...

    Have fun!

yes. it is very well worth it! :)

i seen ed last april at santa barbara & la1.
this month, did both montreal & both toronto jams.

just being in the crowd, hearing ed break out the tunes
the emotions of hearing these acoustic strings roar
you have to be there, more then once.
    trust me.
