I really want a boy the second time around and we want to start now but the calander says it will be a girl unless we wait a month. I usually don't believe in this stuff but friends have said its pretty right on.

Your thoughts?

two times that I know of.

However, and please excuse me while you try to wrap your brain around this, if it is done by the age of the mother and month of conception...

We did IVF to have our son, and there are three embies on ice (toticles, in our house). If the Chinese calender is correct, which is has been 99.9% of the time with customers in my store, does that mean all of the embies are boys? How could that be? Some people do IVF and get 20 or more--would that mean they are all the same sex?

I know the calendar is based upon Eastern logic from years and years and years ago, but how do it know? :)

Sorry to go off on another subject, but this has been floating around my head for a while now. I just needed to get it out. LOL
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

I don't believe in this stuff.

One thing I've heard is this: there was a study recently where women eating sugary cereal for breakfast when they conceived were much more likely to make a boy. They hadn't figured out *why* yet, but the numbers were high enough to warrant further research.

Also, my husband told me that doggy style is supposed to make a boy, lol. I totally thought he was just bullshitting me, but then he found proof on the web. :D

lol, well, I wouldn't know about trying. The only thing we've ever tried to do was NOT get pregnant. ;):D

Oh, and lol about the "oral". Yeah, surely that will help conceive a child. ;):p

supposedly if you want to up your chances for having a male child, have intercourse as CLOSE as possible to peak ovulation....perhaps the day before...the day of...and the day after. obviously, need an ovulation predictor kit for best accuracy, or your wife can also monitor her temperature. anyhoo, the rationale behind this is...sperm. the X carrying sperm (meaning female) swim slower but last longer. the Y carrying sperm swims faster but dies off quicker. if you have intercourse further out from ovulation, will up the chances of female offspring b/c the X sperm will hang on longer until ovulation. by having intercourse AT the peak of ovulation, better chance the Y sperm will swim up faster and beat the Xs, thus procuring a male. Course, there are far more variables involved, so definitely no guarantees......supposedly though, a high correlation. also, eating a diet rich in lean protein and fats is also meant to improve the odds of male offspring.

    good luck and have fun!
    :)

You can use the Chinese calendar but you will wind up with a Chinese baby. You will then have to learn how to use an abacus in order to explain how it happened to your family.

I have friend whose dad is 85 and losing his mind. When he heard some people were going to China to adopt a newborn baby, he said "what the hell? That kid'll be speaking Chinese." Really, he said that.
