WTF? High Blood Pressure is very common in my family. My grandfather, my dad and myself have it. My father and I are very healthy people. He more then I but I still am in much better shape then most my age. I'm almost 33, i workout four days a week. Eat organic food. I pig out sometimes on pizza or sweets sometimes but i live a healthy lifestyle.
Even if i do all this, i still have to take Hypertention med's. Itry to get healthier but when I stop taking them after a few days my Blood Pressure goes up.
Anyone else have this problem?

I don't have hypertention, but I have high cholesterol. I'm 27, in incredible shape, and am probably the most health-concious person I know. Still have cholesterol levels higher then they should be.
It's a family thing as well.

i've got pre-hypertension. it was found during a routine exam. I don't salt my food anymore. it was 150/90 over a year ago.
so they started monitoring me....which gave me the "white coat syndrome".
it's high at the doctor's office and at home when I take it. well they said not high enough to go on meds. today my mom's heart rate was too low. i wanted to show her a special feature on my home BP monitor. without resting, my BP was....
are you ready for this? I'm still upset. It was 177/116. And then the monitor died and I changed the batteries so she could use it... I told her I need to call 911 and she told me to calm down...I took it 15 minutes later and it was 139/90, but I did not rest and was standing up. I took a xanax. I'm not taking it any more.

p.s. a nurse at work told me that losing 5 lbs could make a difference.

Normally I am 215lbs. I went down to 203lbs in the summer and it did nothing.

  • Are you the type of person that holds stress inside? Maybe finding a way to release your stress would help it go down. What about yoga? :)

I have been thinking about that. Yoga sounds good.

I love music, I laugh a lot, and I workout so i think I let my stress out okay.

there are a lot of people with hypertension in the U.S.

our ridiculous amount of salt intake is one of the major causes.
    damn you, processed foods.

    interesting article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-02-10-salt-dangers_N.htm

lol, yes I have. ;) But maybe those posts are hurting more than helping! Chant with me: "serenity now...serenity now..." :D

You should really give the yoga a try. It really does relax you like nothing else in the world.
