I have always been a dog person and I have two but when I was young we had a cat twice and they were really cool. Certian Cats are cool. I like the Calico type. I am not into the long hair fluffy type, they are for girls and gay men. lol
Like Deniro says in Meet the Parents, you have to earn a cats respect, not like a dog for the most part. Except for mine, the one does not like anybody at first and the other loves them all.
I think my daughter would like a cat. Maybe I will adopt one for her.

I love cats, but my husband is terribly allergic to the point that he breaks out in hives...lol. I'd love to try one of those supposedly hypoallergenic ones. I think my little girl would love it! I'd just be sick if we got attached and couldn't keep it, though!
edited to add: I've always wanted a dog but worry that I'd get tired of caring for it (and carrying it's poop around, lol). I feel like humans should be above that....right?

I have a solid black cat. Her name is Caitlin. hahaha.
I also have a black and white tuxedo cat named Noah, and a brown and black tortie cat named Madeline
and then I have a long haired cat that is peach and gray named Aubrey. (Poor Aubrey, she must wonder why she doesn't look like anyone else at all) She is one of those cat-dog type cats.
I told my wife we are getting a shepherd next to look out for my daughter. Very loyal dogs

I like dogs (in this city you better at least be partial to dogs cause they're EVERYWHERE!). What I don't like about dogs (or dog owners) is the crap all over the sidewalk, that the stupid owners don't pick up, and the fact that when a dog barks constantly, you hear it... if a cat meows, you're not going to hear that a block away or even in the next apartment. Neighbour's dog downstairs barks all friggin' day... drives me bonkers when I'm home. I also don't agree with dogs in apartments... sorry, I think it's cruel (especially if they're big dogs). Dogs need backyards to run around.
Dogs have masters, cats have staff
yeah, we had one when i was little and he let me climb all over him and i even tried to ride him like a horse. when i was 5 he died of old age. :(

I have two large dogs, a large husband and a cat in a small apartment. I personally feel that apartment dogs end up with a much better life than many house dogs.
With a house, it's easy just to let a dog out and have them entertain themselves. Many are left outside and therefore left out of the interaction with their families.
Having my dogs in an apartment means they're getting a lot more time with me. I have to make sure they get their exercise, so they don't get bored. A bored dog can be a destructive dog. Plus, they really like having the play time with us - even just on the short bathroom breaks.
There are plenty of dogs that are actually well suited for apartments: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/apartment.htm
BTW - people who don't pick up after their dogs piss me off as well. I always have bags in my backpack, so if I see someone walking away from their pups waste, I can hand them a bag and tell them to clean it up.

Haha! That reminds me of the time my cat got chased around the house by his own shit. See, I have really long hair and sometimes my cats will eat a hair off the bathroom floor or something. (I try really hard to keep this from happening.) Of course it's got to eventually come out the other end with everything else. One morning I'm sound asleep and hear my cat tearing through the house like he's running away from something. Unfortunately he ran right across my bed and I realized that he had gone to the bathroom and a piece of crap had come out with one end of a hair imbedded in it - but the other end of the hair was still inside him. So when he took off, the crap followed him, and the faster he ran, the faster it chased him! Ah, the joys of pet ownership!
Maybe I shouldn't have told this story.
