OK, I got over the ding issue...repaired it today...and then took the board for its maiden voyage!!! Whoooooooo-hoooooo! OK, so I didn't actually stand up on it, I knealt and sat and generally had a grand time!! It was so hot today, that I was such a relief to be on the ocean, a place I missed being...Mt Baker was so beautiful...and yeah, it got a little choppy and lumpy for a bit, it was still a magical experience!! I was out there paddling around for about two hours...two hours of bliss...(sigh)...
Thank you Laird Hamilton!!
I probably won't be able to lift my arms to type tomorrow, but I'm still hoping to get out again!
PS. Yes this was in the Pacific Southwest of Canada...and no...I did not wear a wet suit. The water was cold, but not shockingly so...

You dinged your board before you even got in the water??:D:p Glad to hear you had fun. What kind of paddle did you end up getting?
So no one else here has an SUP board? If you do, please post about your fave places to paddle...I'm keen to hear others' stories...
I'd love to be into that. Having no car does have its drawbacks at times.
I need a SUB before I can get a SUP.

Prepare for tending to your garden, America.
The board was dinged when I finally unwrapped it a week ago. After a tantrum and speaking with the excellent folk who sold me the board, I decided to repair the ding myself with Ding Dung or whatever it's called. Anyway, it did the job and it's all systems go.
I ended up getting the Surftech carbon fibre (?)...it was $350, but because the new Laird boards were $200 less than what I paid for a 2007 model, the excellent folk who sold me the board let me have the paddle for $99. Not bad. Thanks for asking, by the way...

Wow...that would be neat...but alas, it is unlikely he will come to BC anytime soon...
When we hiked out to Jaws in December last year, we saw his house. I took a picture but then deleted it because, well, what's the point in having a photo of his house...
Buuuuuuutttttt....if you happen to walk by that shop next weekend....welll, maybe you might have a Surftech brochure and a Sharpie.....hmmmmm?
Thank you for thinking of me, though...that was sweet of you to remember....
Totally managed to not fall in the water (no wetsuit, kiddies) - so YAY me! Now I'm all elated and can't sleep...
