I thought it was hilarious. Watch some of his tv spots on you tube some are priceless. For me Borat was not just about what he did but how he made members of the public say or do things because they are totaly relaxed with this guy. E.G. the guy at that rodeo saying how we should hang gays ect. That is where his quality is.

  • Two of the guys in my office and I have been HUGE Ali G/Borat/Bruno fans since the HBO series started...of course that put us behind the times in terms of the UK series, but what can I do?

Anyway, I mention this because to this day, we like to speak like Borat all day long in the office. Somehow for us it hasn't gotten old...BUT...for a few months after the movie was released, we couldn't stand hearing about it anymore since we were all so disappointed in it and didn't want to be associated with all the people who had just started talking like him, lol.

There's some VERY funny stuff in the movie, but, it's not nearly as intelligent as the series was. It simply couldn't be since it had to appeal to a much wider audience, but that's why I feel it was a letdown. Even some of the more intelligent people I know that had never seen the series had trouble with this after the way critics hailed it as being so smart. Sorry critics, but the series was brilliant and the film was a heavily dumbed down version. Still somewhat smart and subversive, but not on the same level. Wow, I just wrote a lot without saying much, huh?

    Borat: Are you my friend?
Driving Instructor: You're a nice young man and I'm your friend, yes.
Borat: Would you like to be my boyfriend?

    ...

    HAPPY TIMES

pull this off!!! i hope not... dangly bits everywhere then!

ok i've ordered all 34 they had in stock.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

You've got to watch it. It is so funny! I mean, don't even bother analyzing it, it's just funny.
It's distorted my sense of humour though. Even the bit at the beginning where he says 'this is (so and so). He's the village rapist' makes me laugh and it's really not actually funny but... :D
...and then when they find out their tempory landlord is a Jew and start pushing money under the door to keep them away... I'm a bad person. :(

Oh and the naked scene... with the dildo.

    :o (Sorry but I just saw this. :Dhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P842Tmi6lrc&feature=related )

Became bored by it about half-way in so didn't watch to the end. Parts I chuckled at like letting the chickens loose on the train but other moments I thought were just crass and dumb. What he coaxed outta those people was unsurprising, but I didn't mind that side of it.

On the Borat movie - I've never been more embarrased for my fellow Americans in all my life. There are truly some idiots out there! I have seen this once, and will never put myself through that again!

Come on folks, those Christians...is that a common thing there really? I found it very disturbing.

I've tried answering this about three other times - and each time I think I'm not the right person to answer...I'm not policitally correct...etc. But no one else is biting...so here goes!

Yes - it is disturbing - to me anyway. Very disturbing, actually. For full disclosure, I don't believe in any type of "God" anyway - I feel that religion is just another way for big brother to control the masses - so please take my comments from that perspective.

From what I understand - and folks please correct me - this is Pentecostalism. Those folks talking in "tounges" are talking to "God". And he's the only one that can hear because...well, it's "God" and it understands that gibberish. Some of these folks are the same folks that don't believe in going to the doctor because "God" will take care of them.

I'd have to say the craziest part of this is that there were actually US Representatives going to that church! Holy cow! Looked like a looney-bin to me!

Oh - and is this widespread? Not in my area...but from what I understand there are many more churches that follow this faith in the South. (Another reason PJ doesn't play the south??? hmmm...) According to my friend wiki there are about "57 million adherents worldwide" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentecostalism

OK - just trying my best to show that not all Americans are that whacked out! Bash away ;) LOL
