Alright basketball fans, how did your team do in the draft?

After the first 3 picks went as expected, I had no clue how the rest of the draft would unfold. I think the big winners in this draft are Miami, New Jersey, Indiana, and Portland. Memphis and Seattle also had pretty good days.

Charlotte is the team I follow most closely and I thought they should have gone with Brook Lopez. If they were set on getting a PG, I would have gone with Bayless over Augustin though. I think they thought Hibbert would be available at #20 though. Ajinca at 20 is a stretch and I think that he's gonna have to develop a lot overseas before playing in the NBA. Didn't like the Kyle Weaver pick in the 2nd round either. Weaver is ok and pretty athletic, but the Bobcats needed another post guy and should have addressed that with this pick.

I think the second round steals are going to be Joey Dorsey (33), Mario Chalmers (34), Chris Douglas-Roberts (40), and Bill Walker (47 - assuming his knee is ok).

not me, but it was funny watching the knick fans boo him since they've never seen him play.

Yeah, that was a bit much. I felt bad for the kid because he looks like he's gonna become a decent player. He's a better pick than the last 3 first round picks they've had, so I don't get all the booing.

I like what the Nets did with draft and trades but the roster looks really really young aside from Carter. I wonder if they're gonna boot him too and start fresh faces.

wow....miami had a fantastic draft. chalmers and beasly are both great players but i think jackson was a steal. the entire year i watched ku, i kept telling everyone jackson is the man that does the things that frees up the others.

I don't think it's just an NY fan thing. Remember Philly (who booed Donovan McNabb at the NFL Draft). Being from Boston, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the loser fans here did that stuff too.

The stuff with booing Gallinari is ridiculous. I heard that the MSG crowd at the draft was even cheering "USA RED WHITE AND BLUE" when booing Gallinari. As the new Knicks coach, D'Antoni knows Gallinari and feels it was a good draft pick. The fans just thrive off of being negative at this point. They definitely have a reason to be mad but the team's trying to turn around now so they should be lenient.
  • Did anyone see right after Lopez was drafted by the Nets they had a behind the scenes camera on him. Well it was recording everything he said and ESPN aired a small peice of it. They caught him asking someone who the GM and Coach of the Nets were. When they told him Lawrence Frank he responded by saying "Lawrence Frankkkkk???" Like who the hell is that...ohh mannn.
It was hilarious. I'm sure coach will love that one

Can't really blame Lopez on that though. You know he was told and promised that he was a top 5 pick, so he probably only knew about the teams that had those first five selections. NJ got a steal with him at 10 and then got who I think will turn out to be a very good SF in Anderson.

Dont forget Douglas-Roberts, he is a money player

BTW will the Nets ever move to Brooklyn?

I guess they have to in order to land Lebron in 2010

Yeah, I had CDR as a second round steal in one of my previous posts. I'm not sold on him becoming the next second round star like Michael Redd or Manu Ginobili, but I think he'll have a nice career providing some instant offense coming off the bench. Maybe becoming one of the better sixth men in the league...

Don't know when they'll get to Brooklyn. Could be as early as 2010 or as late as 2013, if at all.

Trading Jefferson's big contract away definitely will help them financially when/if they decide to pursue LeBron.

The Blazers again, had a solid draft. Giving up a Rush and some throw-ins (Jack & McRoberts) was a steal.

So now we have a point scorer & and a SG to run the offense.

Plus add in Oden and Rudy Fernandez and we're going to have a Hornets-like breakout season.

Aldridge, Outlaw, and Webster aren't that bad either ;)

When they made the trade for Bayless, I pegged them as a team that I think will make a deep run in the playoffs next year (barring injuries, of course).

I'm curious to see how Fernandez and Batum perform in the NBA, although it wouldn't surprise me if Batum spent another year in Europe honing his skills.

I think Batum is actually gonna ride the last spot on the roster and learn in the D-League. That's the early report.

Injuries will be the only thing that stops us I think. Greg Oden is a huge monster right now. He looks like a young Shaq :D
