My Truck, the Bird Slayer

In my six months of ownership, my 2008 Chevy Silverado has hit approximately 30 birds. This week alone, I’ve hit a bird each morning on my way to work, included two this morning alone! The birds typically do suicide runs out of the brush in the ditches at the last second, so I don’t have any time to react. It is always a bummer.
I’m just going the speed limit. I’ve had four other vehicles and I have never had a problem.
Perhaps my truck makes a noise that attracts the birds? Or maybe it is possessed by an evil spirit that doesn’t like birds? I don’t know. All I know is that the last bird I hit sent a spray of feathers that was reminiscent of the time Randy Johnson clocked one with a 99 mph fastball.

this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say
I had just had a near miss where a blue jay flew about 5 inches off the profile of my hood and windshield, but just as I was letting out a sigh of relief a small bird did a kamikaze right into my grill.
Maybe I should try a new route . . .
