  • ddl did my left foot the same year cruise did born on the 4th of july. cruise's best performance to date and his best chance. he will never be that good again in my opinion.
but come on... Daniel in my left foot... nobody could deny him THAT oscar  . I'm still a tiny bit bitter that Hanks won for Philadelphia over Daniel in In the name of the father... which was IMO the best performance I've EVER EVER EVER seen :o
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

    hanks' was a political win.

and yes youre right DDL could not be denied his win for my left foot. twas a superior performance. that's what i was saying. such a performance was required, cause cruise's in ...4th july was so very good.

    RE: Daniel Day Lewis
The man is a brilliant actor....I see so called actors like John Travolta and it makes me sick. I don't know why...

I have a friend that is a Producer in LA, she says the difference between people like Travolta or Will Farrell (who I love) and people like Daniel Day Lewis is that Travolta and Farrell make movies, Daniel Day Lewis makes "films".

She is kind of a film snob though. I'm sure you can imagine.

As much as I love DDL, he had nothing on the guy that should have won the Oscar that year: Liam Neeson for Schindler's List. He'll never have another role like that as long as he lives.

I was impressed on how polite, and non-egotistical Daniel Day Lewis seemed. He was truly grateful for the award and humbled towards the other actors.

I just read that when he's not making movies, he lives in Ireland and is a cobbler. That's so random.. but cool.. to think that one of the greatest actors of all time is spending his days making shoes for people.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

I guess that's what he's doing right now, and maybe for the next three years.

IH79, you'll have to wait until 2012 for his next movie :D

That too is true. I think DDL edges it though... Tom Hanks was brilliant but he'd no right to the oscar that year. Talk about a tough year eh?

yep, he lives a pretty normal life... goes to his local... jogs every day. He's apparently a really nice guy and has introduced his family to everyone and stuff. It's cool cos he's always going on about how he wishes he was Irish and I think he's actually taken up citizenship and I've heard him talk about the importance of Ireland
