    The punk ass kid didn't deserve seven bullets for stealing a necklace, c'mon people. Maybe one in the ass or leg though. It's not like the old man could have kicked his ass, so that wasn't an option. He may have gotten sued, but it's better than life (what's left) behind bars.

    This guy erased a future career criminal from a city full of criminals and he gets life in prison...at 71 years old. He should be given a god damn metal...Hey if Jamil didn't want consequences, he shouldn't have decided to rob someone. I'll add this to the list of reasons why I hate Philadelphia.

    Someone obviously did. Or, at the very least, no one taught him that it wasn't.

    my point is that most kids dont understand the concept of consequences. I bet when he was staring down the barrel of a gun he finally understood. now, maybe he friends will refrain from embarking on a life of crime.

    bottom line: if you dont want to get shot, dont commit a crime. end of story, the kid was wrong, dont make him out to be a victim.

    The synopsis of the story was only posted, but in the story I read on Monday about this it said that the 71 year old guy chased the 19 year old kid 6 blocks in his car, hit him off his bike and broke the 19 year old thief's hip and instead of calling the cops or asking for help at any point he stood over the 19 year old with his gun loaded and opened fire.

    The 71 year old guy claims he had bad eyesight and didn't know where he was aiming even though all 7 shots hit the back of the head, in an eye, under the chin, in the chest and neck.

    Personally I think the 71 year old was right to chase the guy down and should have left it after hitting the 19 year old with his car and called the police. Shooting 7 times including reloading his gun at one point was excessive as we don't execute people in this country for stealing which is exactly what the 71 year old did.

    I understand the ring had great sentimental value - it was an engagement ring from years ago from a woman with whom things ended badly, but he still murdered the kid. After he had broken the kid's hip in center city (the main business district) he could have very easily called the cops instead of shooting the 19 year old.

    I agree, maybe bust him in the face a few times, but shooting the kid 7 times while crawling on the ground like that is fucked up..
