feel better, but that's not as painful as having your appendix being needed to be taken out (before the pain killers).

I let it sit out opened for a little bit plus to help to get it to room temp

No, you stir it until it loses the fizz. Flat soda is what I mean.
    De-carbonate, etc ;)

I didn't stir it up.......just took baby sips

When we were kids my Dad worked for Coca-Cola he would bring home the Cola Syrup when we got the stomach flu

That seemed to help...but when you're violently throwing up nothing seems to help much

I think if it is still fizzy it just makes you throw up faster, hehehe
Of course I have no factual evidence to that other than personal experience.

    I went with original flavor

    and a straw-that helped

saltines or ritz crackers also helped

I literally caught around this very time last week, at work nonetheless. The half hour trip home later that evening was absolute hell. Then I thought it was only a 24 hour bug and late Wednesday night tried to eat a full normal dinner and basically relapsed instead. Didn't feel anywhere normal until Saturday night, minus seven pounds later.

Oral rehydration for cholera, developed in Bangladesh - 1 liter of water, 8 level teaspoons of sugar, 1 level teaspoon of salt. An inexpensive rehydration solution which has saved many many lives.

I had a rare flu two years ago that caused me to puke over 30 times in one night and nearly 50 times in two days. I've never been in worse pain. I wanted to be euthanized!

Heaving on an empty stomach every hour for 6 hours definitely sucks. And when that's passed, the fear of ingesting anything in case you have to heave again.

Only lost 5 lbs because I was afraid to eat. But I've kept them off somehow.

Uggh, sorry about that and glad you're feeling better now!

I had a similar flu last month. Once the heaves finally stop, that first glass of ginger ale and bite of saltine taste like the best food in the world! And the jello! My god, the jello was like heaven ... :D
