Could really use some info/advice here. You guys always seem to come thru so here goes. Up until a few weeks ago I have only had 2 of these that I knew of. Both were when I was under the influence of one substance or another. A couple of weeks ago at work it was extremely busy and very crowded where I work. (In a bar/restaurant) and I had a pretty bad one. Sober as a judge... Kinda figured it had something to do with the amount of people I kept having to pass thru to deliver food/drink etc. Kinda off kilter for a few days after that. Fast forward to my trip to the West Coast to see Ed. Had another the afternoon before the show at my brothers house. Wasn't doing too well on the way to the gig as my bro drives like a f'in lunatic then came time to get posters...UGH! Things were pretty much ok after that...trip home fine etc. Then last nite even thinking about going back to work...another. Worked 11:30am-11pm today and was fine most of the day then boom...another. Pretty sure this is what they are...heart racing, butterflies in my tummy, just this horrible feeling of dread. I am trying to avoid the Dr. route as all she will want to do is prescribe some kinda RX and I am not a huge fan of pills. Have popped a few Xanax to get thru them but don't wanna continue this. All the Xanax really do is put off the feeling till it wears off...doesn't get rid of it completely. Any advice frome someone w/ experience with these. I can't go on much longer like this :(
PJ FANS ROCK!!!

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

Some words when spoken...can't be taken back.

mate, listen to me, YOU HAVE TO SEE A DR!!!!
I suffer from extreme anxiety, and have been on meds for over 10 years now...they work really well but you need to speak to a qualified proffessional that can coach you in relaxation exercises like breathing control and muscle relaxation.
It is something that is managed well with the right treatment but I dont know of anyone who has managed it without the help of meds and counselling.
What you are describing are panic attacks. They can come on with no warning, and also appear at seemingly irrelevant situations. This is whats most frightening I think, is the unpredictability of it.
I wish you all the luck, if you need to talk to me about it in more detail or need a chat please just PM me, im always on here it seems :)

apparently, my older bro has been suffering from these and other things for some time.

it came to a head a couple of weeks ago.

a dr. wouldn't be the worst thing...you might find some things out.

    Esther's here and she's sick?

hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks

Thanks yellowled24... My biggest question is why? Granted I have had a shitty few months w/ the passing of my Gram , my kittie and my best friend's mom but I have been thru way worse shit than that in my life and coped just fine. Turning 40 has absolutley sucked!

gosh, im not sure i can answer that question.
I guess things affect people in lots of different ways. There may no be a particular event that sparked these attacks, it may just be a series of underlying events that have banked up you know?
Like a snowball effect so to speak. Year after year of going through life, dealing with things, arguments, greif etc. maybe it all adds up without us knowing??
Also, it may have something to do with hormones? Bloody bastards ;)

LOL...hormones! That's it we'll blame it on them! ;) Maybe if I pop out a kid it will fix it all? J/K of course! I appreciate all your help and I will be in touch if this continues. Comforting to know someone understands. My dad just says "take a Xanax". Might solve the problem short-term but as I said I don't know how much longer I can take this. Might have to call a Dr. afterall...was just trying to avoid it. Thanks again! :)

I dont think having a kid helps, seems to me they cause MOST of my panic attacks!!! :D
Please let me know how you go, will check this thread when I come back online, and like I said before just drop me a PM if you need. Good luck :)

I suffered from anxiety attacks due to exposure to nerve gas back in the 1st gulf war.
Have been on xanax for years, and thank God that has controlled my attacks.

    Listen to your doctor!
